Brother popped round today to take me for a spin in the current car he has to add 500 miles too. Cracking little car, a lot of fun with the size/power/quattro.

A few snaps.

Only 90 miles on it so far.

Colour is a good choice, same as the A1 I had a while back but with a black roof and pillars.

This car will be used in Audi driving experience. He had a Q7 before this. Looking forward to when he can start driving RS6s and R8s.

Car swap day! So went to handover centre, arrived with 5 minutes to spare only to find out my brother didn't tell me they moved it.. so hoped back in the car and made my way to the new location.

I was confident that with only a deep stone chip in the bonnet any repair bills would be small. The assessor took his time and finally came out with his report at 11am. Dent in the front bumper and dent in the rear bumper. I hadn't spotted these at all, but overall after my free loan car smart repair the bill was £14.40.

I then went through to the new hand over area to get familiar with the new car and check for any existing damage. Once I was happy I was on my way and it's now parked on my drive. So as usual, some quick snaps from the drive.

Golf Estate GT 1.4 TSI 150 PS 7-speed DSG £138/month.

I like the colour. I hate gloss black plastic, it needs to stop being a thing in cars. Still no bloody climate control..

Grim, out! I just find them so dull, Golfs. In any guise

Bring on the A5, will fap to that

Fite me. There's no A5! Only A4 or Q3 as a fall back option ;)

The engine in that Golf is fantastic. My dad has the same one in his Leon ST FR, so smooth and impressively quick, also does 40+mpg

Enjoy!

Looking forward to taking it for a proper drive on Wednesday. Already it's much nicer that the dag dag of the TDI in the Passat.

Next car is confirmed and we have...

Audi A4 Saloon S line 2.0 TFSI quattro 252 PS S tonic @ £189/month.

Very pleased! Will be a massive set up from previous cars. 0-62 in 5.8 will be fun. Weirdly they have chosen the colour for me and ignored my preferences. They have gone with Moonlight Blue, which looks almost black because it's such a dark blue.

Something like this, minus the upgraded wheels.

Roll on October.

Nice Golf Estate :)

It's pretty decent. The boot space is coming in handy with the massive buggy to lug about. The 1.4TSI is a surprisingly good engine - enough pace for most and returning 47mpg on my 45 mile mixed A and B road commute.

MPG is pretty impressive from this 1.4 petrol. Who needs Diesel..

Also a car park snap this morning after it's had a clean.

I think it's all VAG employees.

My brother is a master tech, working in the HQ. Does stuff like look after the Audi driving experiencing cars.. spends some weeks at Silverstone or attending good wood.

He only has access to 1 car for himself and additional 2. It was hard convincing him since all my other brothers and sisters wanted in.

Brother just changed his car to this a 2016 A5 1.8 TFSI Black Edition. Not my cup of tea, but for a 24 year old I'm sure it'll do. The leather seats are nice, very comfortable and I like the driving position.

inb4 drug dealer car.

OK so the A4 has arrived in the UK and is going through pre-delivery inspection. I'm hoping to be in it very soon.

The October 2016 list has been sent over to me and things are looking very very interesting. Now I don't want to get carried away with picking something expensive, so I have a budget in mind (circa £200/month). Here are the more interesting cars on the list.

New A5 Sportback 2.0 TFSI quattro S line 252 S tronic £218/month
New Q5 2.0TFSI quattro S tronic S line £232/month
S4 Avant quattro 354PS S tronic £240/month
S4 Saloon quattro 354PS S tronic £246/month
S6 Avant 4.0 TFSI quattro 7 sp S tronic £319/month
S6 Saloon 4.0 TFSI quattro 7 sp S tronic £309/month
S1 2.0TFSI 231 manual £137/month
S1 Sportback 2.0TFSI 231 manual £140/month
Superb SE L Executive Hatchback 2.0 TSI 220PS DSG £141/month
TOUAREG FL R LINE 3.0 TDI V6 262PS BMT SCR £247/month
TOUAREG FL R LINE PLUS 3.0 TDI V6 262PS BMT SCR £253/month

Now to decide what to order for April > October 2017. I'm leaning towards the new A5, however it may feel very similar to the A4. In which case I may push the budget for the Q5.

Audi interiors make me cry, just something about them makes them always look like it's in an old car

S4 though, do it! DO IT!

Have you seen the new models? They are fantastic.

The S4 is still overkill for my usage. 80% of my driving is stuck on A-B roads doing 50-60mph.

The superb is indeed mega value, and I think it looks really good too.

Not sure what you mean by round? They aren't in the newer 2017 models

S4 will be similar to the already very fast and capable A4 I've got for the next 6 months. I just can't make it work in my head.

I'd prefer something comfy and practical with a big of pace and the Superb is amazing value.

P.s 5 series? What happened to Jag?

Sensible part of my says the Superb, the other part of me watches this and gets excited.

I think the fact that these won't appear on the list next time round or any time after may push me towards taking the opportunity.

Saying that, I checked the allocations and they are really low. 10 Avant and 8 Saloons across the entire company, with preferences going to employees first. So I would say it's highly unlikely.

New Q5 on the other hand has 81 allocated :p

S1 is a no go since it's a family car on the weekend. Baby, wife and push chair.

That S4 sounds a bit plain? No sound on the overrun, pops and crackles seem a bit lifeless also :(

I have no idea what engine the S4 has now though, bet it follows the usual trend these days?

I think it sounds good enough for a fast saloon.

I'd expect to see the characteristics you mentioned on the RS4.

I like the look of the new A5, but the only thing is the current one has a really odd and annoying boot layout. It's deep, but due to the sloping back doesn't have much height at the opening. This results in the buggy going in and everything else being pilled on top of it towards the back of the space. Not sure if they have changed this in the new A5.
