It's the natural progression. You get used to good handling, comfort and refinement and relatively good performance. There's only one place to go to better everything ;)

Wish I'd got an autobox with my M54B30, to be honest. As long as you have a manual gear selection mode the benefits far outway the costs!
 
Very nice. I love the black... makes a change to silver, which seems to be the colour of the majority of 530i's. It is definitely in need of some 18's because the alloys look really quite small and pathetic under them arches.

Just trying to better understand why it's always people with not-entirely-exciting cars themselves that love to berate 230bhp RWD BMW's as boring.

If you have a point, it's only polite to back it up.

Of course it's boring compared to faster or more agile cars but what it loses in performance it makes up for in comfort and practicality.

People buy cars which are the most suitable for their needs. Unfortunately most people need a good all-round car which means compromise in some aspects.
 
Food for thought... if all OcUK's Mondeo owners upgrade to a 530i, what ever comes next? I'm invisaging OcUK RR meet 2010 to be a sea of Bentley Arnage Ts.

i said the car was nice, the boring was to do with buying one. ocuk fad 1: buy a mondeo. ocuk fad 2: buy a 530.

what does my car have to do with anything? my car gets me from a to b which all i need of it right now. i do not see why you need to bring my car (albeit the car that was trashed back in feb) into the conversation. infact, its very hypocritical of you to do so, as you seem to hate people bringing your car into random threads that do not warrant it being mentioned..

It'll just go in waves, the current crop will get mortgaged up to the arse, knock out a few kids, lose all passion in cars and move on to people carriers.

Then there will be a new leader of the pack who will cause the choice of a random rep mobile as a first car to spread like wild fire over the forum and so it continues ;)

Thought about it, Not convinced yet, reason being the black tape used to stick them down might look a bit naff on a norfolk mustard car. :)
