Ok excellent. One final thing I just wanted to ask. Now I am finally using my PC because I have monitors. Should I test it properly to make sure that it is running stable. Im guessing stress tests such as prime? Is this worth doing to make sure my build is OK and if so are there other ones as well?
Hi Olivier thanks for the response. I will come back to the benchmarking/stress testing in a minute. Because I have just connected up the second monitor and have got a problem.
The second monitor is darker, I have no idea why. The only thing I can think of is the fact that the DVI ports on my graphics card are different? Anybody know what the problem is?
I don't have two seperate settings like that, not that I can see anyway. I have an ATI graphics card. I have switched round the DVI cables and it's still the same monitor that has the problems. I have also just tried restoring both to factory default. This is so stupid!
Hi, thanks for the help. I have now run a factory reset, I have switched the DVI cables round both at the GPU end and the screen end. Each time the same monitor has stayed light and the other has stayed dark. I am running out of ideas what to do. Am I going to need to send this back? I still think it is to do with the DVI ports on my graphics card. This is because they are different, this is what I have:
DVI port - Single-link DVI output
DVI - I Port - HDMI supported - HDCP supported - Dual-link DVI output supported
Resolution is both 1920x1080 and the refresh rate I think is 60Hz. I cannot seem to find anything on dell forums that really relates to this. I've just realised what you mean, the DVI ports are irrelevant if I have changed them round! I did not buy through overclockers, but from an auction site. I guess I have to return it then?
Thanks for the response. No there doesn't seem to be, anyway I contacted Dell and explained the problem. They asked me to send pictures of the monitors, which I did. They then rung me back and said they are both faulty, so they are going to send me new ones. Let's hope these are OK!
Oh wow, you guys are not going to believe this. Apparently the U2311H is end of line, so now they are trying to get me to accept another one. What do I do!?!
They were going to send me new ones, then arrange for the other ones to be picked up. I have just got off of the phone and they are trying to get me to accept this one:
This one looks worse in some respect than the one I have now. And I have no idea what this one is like. The other thing is this new monitor is £190 on the dell site, and when I checked the u2311h previously on their site it was £238. I will have a look at that other monitor.
Thanks guys.
EDIT:
That's even more annoying because I did'nt know they were replacing these monitors. I will have to try and get this new one through them somehow. Tell them to wait and give me that one lol. I really don't know what to do, might have to just ask for a refund.
Also just having a look I have found the U2412M on the dell US site. So that is already out, I expect the U2312M will be out anytime soon. I think my best option will be to try and get a refund. What do you guys think?
Thanks for the responses. Yes I agree, no way am I taking that. The only problem is I bought these monitors through a reseller. I don't know how I should go about refunds.
I will have to make sure they refund the seller then, and then the seller refunds me. I think I will then wait for this new monitor, as it should be out anytime soon. And Stulid I like the look of that new monitor
Thought I would just keep you guys updated. After all this time I am finally having the faulty monitors collected from me. I will then hopefully be refunded soon after. Then I think I am going to wait and purchase the U2312HM when it is released.
I believe it is being released towards the end of August?
