New computer build.

Ok so connected up to internet, and have results. However 3dmark says that my result is low compared to others. This is what I have, including temperatures:

Is there some kind of problem? I have selected improve and it has told me that my gpu driver is old, so I have scanned to find another one. Should I update then run again?

Just run again and got P4311 3D marks with updated driver. It still says that it is low compared to similar systems. Is it because it says that my graphics card driver is not approved? Or is it something else?

EDIT: Should I use MSI afterburner and adjust something?

Hey, many thanks for your response. I have now tested the CPU, RAM and GPU. Is this all the tests that I need to run in order to be sure that my computer is stable?

lol yes. You could run a HDD bench if you want :)

Even then, running tests is a bit OTT, although it can't hurt. Often, the best test is just running the computer as usual. Games and so on. Running GPU, memory, CPU, power tests is more for troubleshooting and overclocking, although it's nice to know your computer performs as it should out of the box.

Do a restore point BTW, while it's clean. Then you know that your machine is stable up to that point if you run into trouble further down the line.

Lol I do realise that, but being a first build I just wanted to be confident it was all fine! :P I will run a HDD bench because I did want to make sure that it is running at the speeds that it should be really.

I would do a restore point but the thing is I followed a lot of the things on this list:

One of the things was to turn off system protection. Could I just do a system image/backup?

Well, it's true storing system restore info on a SSD is kinda pointless. But at the same time, it is better to keep that functionality working. I have an old 320GB drive that I use for storing backups and restore points, you can set it up from the control panel so your SSD remains clean.

I also turned off hibernation and paging. You can also select the option to store paging info on another drive, but with 8GB, you might as well disable it entirely.

I also use a little program called WinDirStat on the SSD. I find it useful to find out what's actually installed on the SSD and how big the files are. I found the hibernation file was 6GB, and the swap file over 4GB, which prompted me to disable both. BTW, you will see a huge directory called winsxs, don't touch it! :) It's a form of compatibility and windows version folder, it's best to leave it alone, although last time I checked, mine was over 20GB.

Thanks for the response again :) Is your old 320GB hard drive being used externally or internally? Because I do have an external hard drive that I use to store backups and restores for my laptop. I was intending on using this for my desktop build as well.

Thanks Ollie for that response, I will download soon. I have noticed a problem with my front panel audio connectors. Basically when I plug in headphones I cannot get them to work at all. I have had a look on the internet and people seem to have trouble with the realtek sound manager.

I have tried all sorts of things, but am really struggling with what I should do. Does anybody have an ideas?

Just to add the back panel works fine for my speakers and headphones. But when I have to do the stupid thing where you select what you have plugged in, the back panel works as headphones and front speaker out.

Is this right?
