New Dell 30" 4k Oled Announced CES 2016

My time has finally come! Although not at 16:9. 21:9 OLED please. I have an OLED TV and have seen the full benefit OLED has to offer and I long for it on a high end PC monitor. But only in ultra wide aspect.

I am currently shopping for a new monitor but it will be something in the cheaper end while waiting for these new OLEDS to appear with a reasonable pricetag, that i can afford :P. Im done with AUO IPS panels and high priced Asus monitors.. they all leave so much to be desired and still cost an arm and a leg.

Now that few big players in the tech world are offering, or will be very soon, I can't see it being long before the prices of 24" - 30" OLED are well below the £1k mark. Early 2017, I 'd I'd expect there to be at least 8+ models to chose from.

I can imagine the marketing bods at the various manufactures rubbing their hands together, and wondering the best way to offer this as premium quality, without trashing the LED/LCD sales. :)

I think I'll have to start working on the wife now. This thing is stunning. I'll be getting a pascal GPU this year. Hopefully my bonus is good this year...

Considering the LG 65" 4K OLED went from £5000 to £3600 in the space of 4-8 weeks I can fully expect 24-34" PC monitors to come in at the £1k-£2k mark easily by year end!

Agreed. However, the drop in prices for TVs was very quick. I can't see it being that swift for the monitors...

I'd agree, unless there is competition by other vendors also licensing the oled panel, i'd expect lg to announce one though.

Dell's up2715k dual dp 1.2 5k ips monitor hasn't even seen much of a drop since its been released, but hopefully they come down below four figures soon

So surely we'll be seeing the same thing coming from LG, unless they've exclusively licensed it to Dell (which seems unlikely)

Stunning monitor. A little bit out of my price range but maybe in a few years once these panels become sub £1k then I'll make the jump. Any monitor would have to be 21:9 for me to consider it though. Tired of 16:9.

I think people should really see this as a demonstration of the technology. A taste of very exciting things to come. I am intrigued as well by AMD's talk of 'HDR monitors' that they seem confident will be available towards the tail end of this year. That is a fairly strong hint of further things to come in an OLED flavour in the not too distant future. Not necessarily 'cheap' things, but they will come in time.

As a side note, I am half tempted to get one of these for myself. That's just the silly half that wants to own a piece of monitor history. Truth is I really don't feel like spending that much on a monitor. Maybe I can wangle a discount from Dell. :p Oh plus my system would need one heck of an overhaul to make the most out of this, assuming the refresh rate is actually 120Hz. I'm trying to get clarification on that and a few other things from Dell.

OLED, 4k, 120hz and adaptive sync.

That would truly be the holy grail of monitors. This is so close to that and with it being made by Dell is just icing on the cake. Can't be too long before this becomes mainstream and I for one, cannot wait.

I best start saving my pennies.

Hopefully we'll meet somewhere in the middle a few years down the line where I've saved a very small percentage of that £5k and they have dropped in price too!

I'm sure we'll find stuff to nitpick yet.

Even OLED has its haters.
