New Dell 30" 4k Oled Announced CES 2016

Price will definitely come down in time. No wonder this panel has a premium price capable of delivering 4K@120hz OLED IPS. I understand HDMI 2.0 cannot go over 4K@60hz but what about DP 1.2? I hope it has DP 1.3 to ensure that 120hz can be utilized at better color depths.

I'd agree, unless there is competition by other vendors also licensing the oled panel, i'd expect lg to announce one though.

Dell's up2715k dual dp 1.2 5k ips monitor hasn't even seen much of a drop since its been released, but hopefully they come down below four figures soon

We might see sub-1k for an Acer or something, but I doubt that we'll see anything under a grand for the likes of Dell, LG or even Asus if they step up.

I'd be interested to see where Samsung go here. They've effectively dropped their TV OLED efforts.

Samsung haven't dropped their TV OLED efforts, they're still deep into research and have just put production on hold until it is economical for them to resume (2017+). And let's not forget who makes that ~13" OLED panel for the first OLED notebooks to be hitting the scene. ;)

For those wondering why no G-Sync. The current G-Sync chip cannot handle 4K at 120 Hz demand. They will have to design an entire new chip (which I suspect they are already working on).

It would also need to be OLED only. They don't use the same controllers and scalers as LCDs.

G-sync is probably gone before OLED has enough sales and low enough price for it to be a consideration.

That said, big advantage for AMD until then as I assume LG and Samsung will be designing future OLED chips to work with the VESA standard for TVs and monitors.

Seems like a crazy price when you can get a 4k 55 inch oled TV for £2250.

OLED TV's are only 60 Hz and have fairly high input lag. 120 Hz is a HUGE jump. If input lag is also low, this screen is a real winner.

Just have to wait for PCM2's response back from Dell to see if this has a DP 1.3 port or dual DP 1.2. If it's Thunderbolt 3 only (laptop), it's pretty worthless outside the professional segment.

But isn't most the high input lag on normal TV's caused by them having tuners and the built in picture processing stuff that PC monitors no have ?

HI there

Being speaking with DELL and they were planning to only trial this in USA, but they have agreed to try and work with OcUK in the UK and expect to retail it with us for around £3599.99, though I am pushing them to bring that retail price down to £2999.99 here, we expect to get 10-20pc as sales are expected to be rather low in the first year until it becomes more mass market and cost come down.

But I know even at this price they will sell, albeit in small volumes but people will buy them. :)

Well I paid £1900 for my first 24" LCD (which I'm still using) about 10 years ago so not actually too crazy I guess ;)
