New Dell IPS S2721DGF 165hz gaming monitor

So if it's not a real 10bit, will it still make a difference while watching a movie when the option is activated or will it be barely noticeable compared to 8bit?

real 10bit is *really* expensive, it's prograde stuff still. it's better, but costs 4-5 as much. https://www.dell.com/en-uk/shop/del...18q/apd/210-amvo/monitors-monitor-accessories

This is a great video, 10bit specifically addressed at this point: https://youtu.be/hvMPeifY9sU?t=746 (Tim from Hardware Unboxed talking about HDR)

^^^^^^I imagine it depends where they are holding stock. I could initially track mine from the Netherlands to the UK.

They are probably sending you the return from hmillhouse, he seems to have that many on the go :D

Loving mine so far.

Everything's more fluid and smooth,No longer do i get screen tearing,No longer do i not see enemy's quick enough in Cod multiplayer, colours pop more, and much better overall going from a 24" to a 27".

Very happy with the purchase,Now to wall mount it so stand free on the desk ;)

Now now... Although I’m probably considered part of their supply chain at this point.m

I’ve had to order a replacement, but hopefully all good. Back to my 11 year old S2309W again now.

IIRC it was a couple of years ago when I last decided to buy a monitor. I got so despondent with the build quality and "faults" with what was turning up (Samsung and LG) and at over twice the price of this Dell I gave up and continued with my venerable Benq. That was with 32" 4k to 34" UW screens. Of all the hardware that I have buying a new monitor is often fraught with problems.

Good luck with number 4.

Yeh, it's a slight bummer, I didn't realize until after I got it... not a deal breaker as monitor speakers are typically rubbish anyway, but it's a nice to have if you want to move it to a different room temporarily with out having to mess about too much

Mine had a build date of Jun 2020 which arrived yesterday, so Dell must still be flying their original manufacturing batches out to us all :p

I've now got mine all setup as dual displays with my S2719DGF - have retired my 2 trusty BenQ 1080p displays to the loft now!

I'm curious what settings is everyone running their S2721DGF on for the best picture (in their eyes)? Obviously aware some units will differ.

I found the defaults to be way too warm (orange hue like) - so far I'm on the below and it's looking pretty good I think... Colours are definitely a little more vibrant compared to my 19DGF's TN panel.

Preset Standard
Response Super Fast (was Fast)
Brightness 75 (stock)
Contrast 86 (was 75)
Sharpness 50 (stock)
FreeSync Premium Pro ON (stock, for G-Sync to work)

Haven't touched the Nvidia colour settings yet, sticking with the actual monitor settings changes for now.

Think all Ive changed is brightness down to 50% as its too much for a dark room otherwise, but a decent compromise in daytime without changing it all the time.
Freesync was on by default

Response Super Fast (was Fast)

What does that actually do? Im running at 144hz via HDMI currently...
