New essential Android apps thread

I had been using SwiftKey for a while but it started playing up (the cursor was jumping around and double typing words). I'll give it another go and if that fails try swype (Y)

That's the exact thing I would get with swiftkey too a few years back which caused me to ditch it. Unbelievable they still haven't fixed it!

Hi guys, just wondered if any of you could recommend me an app (If there is such a thing) I have a vision of having an android tablet or ipad just inside the door to work and having my staff click a button to 'clock in and out' (would be great if they had a personal pin/password too) At the end of the week I could then email these times to head office for payroll. I'm getting sick of filling in time sheets. Is there anything like this out there?

Ahhh that's interesting. I think i've found the perfect app, unfortunately it's an IOS app it's called Timestation, which uses qr codes or a pin number for individual members of staff. The reports look perfect for my needs. Think we'll give whirl.

The place I work at have something similar but we use a NFC reader attached to a PC, and when it detects a valid NFC object it brings up a window on the touchscreen with the option to clock in and out. We use NFC cards which works pretty well and can just store within our wallets/travel card holder. Unfortunately it's the company's own software they use :p.

if you can't find the app and have the money to get it made, this would be very easily done with a website. just have the tablet with the staff time in page. have the staff enter their unique id number and it'll record the exact time they input it, and then when they leave same thing. would be super easy, store it in a database and then pull that as and when needed.

I still use Google keyboard, it is the best IMO. I just can't get on with Swiftkey.

Estrongs file manager is getting a material ui update but it looks awful.... Now using solid file manager and it looks amazing and still very functional.

You can still install the classic ES theme when the material update is out.

Edit*
Tried out Solid Explorer, it's ace. It actually shows disk space on LAN machines too and I like the Material usage too. Bought!

Been using Solid 2 since the beta, and it has completely replaced ES as well as the cloud apps I use:

Just bought this today as well, fantastic app for £1.39, have it set for my cloud accounts as well, and it also connects to my WD MyCloudMirror flawlessly, so much easier having access to all my files in one place :)

Jumped on the solid explorer bandwagon and impressed. The UI is better that ES explorer that I've been using for the last 5 years and transfers seem quicker over FTP too

I've used it for about a year now and had over £11 from it, great app :)

I've had a good big from it too. Surveys seem to come in fits and spurts though
