New essential Android apps thread

how do you find it? thing that annoys me is the "snapback" when you're on the map screen and want to move the map around to find a location - couldnt figure out disable it.

I've not used it too much yet, but from what i have it seems fine for my uses, just noticed what you mean though & it is a bit annoying.

Any space buffs here seen the ISS onLive app??

ISS onLive allows you to watch realtime video of earth from International Space Station

Not the best grab but gives you an idea of what its like. With 2 different camera views you can 'Chromecast' it to your tv.

Talking mail apps, what's the best?

For work we use Office365 and I get all my jobs through the calendar. The outlook app only shows events over one day even if they last all week which makes it a pain to work out where I am on which days. Anyone recommend one that actually works?

e; Actually, fixed it. Seems auto sync was off or something

What games are available that are any good for a 20-month-old child to play on an android tablet?
I've got a spare tab kicking around and figured I'd stick some baby games on it for the boy.

The Fisher Price ones are fun and importantly free. My boy loves them. There's also a match game by 22learn.

Are things like AVG anti-virus and Malware Bytes actually useful on an android phone ?

Don't see many people recommending 'security' apps ( or i missed them :P )

Thanks

No not useful IMO.

Keep your nose clean and only install apps from the Play store or trusted sources.

Thanks, only use trusted sites for apps - so you've answered that.

So just something like CCleaner to clear out rubbish every now and then ?

Not sure what to install on my new phone to keep it 'unbloated ' and running fine.

In 6/7 years of using Android I've never needed any form of software to keep things unbloated/running smoothly. Most of these apps especially things like task killers make things slower as they interfere with Androids own memory management and such

Anyone who is using SolidExplorer find the copy and paste functionality really annoying? You can put a file on the clipboard for copy, but if you navigate to a different folder where you want to put the file, without using the back button, so for example clicking top left for folder view then choosing a folder, you lose the ability to paste? (the yellow icon changes back to a "create new" icon and the paste option not there.

I find it annoying to have to load it in the destination folder, browse to the source folder, copy, and then go back like 5 times just to paste.

Is there an easier way or me being thick?
