New essential Android apps thread

Cerberus

*Edit* Sorry you said free. Android Device Manager? You get what you pay for though. Cerberus is a one time payment and much better in features but pig ugly UI.

Thanks for the heads up there, it was the exact app I had heard of before and forgotten about.

Also a Brucey bonus you get a free week trial before having to upgrade, perfect for me as I mainly wanted it for this weekends festivities :)

I am like a broken record, previously asked which browser is the best for flash and ended up using UC. It appeared to work fine but the real world is the videos play but stop after the same amount of time (around 8 seconds), same for live feeds or normal embedded videos. I am running Goldeneye ROM, basically a fairly stock 4.4 TouchWiz ROM. So what browser is the best for flash (not liked/had problems with FF, Dolphin, UC, AOSP)?

Has google completely removed the ability to remove fluff and lint apps from the google play store / my apps section? I'm sure the last time I was on the website, you could remove apps by clicking an X on the tiles. Do they simply want us to collect **** with no way of permanently removing it even if we never use the app again?

Just read on Android Police that Hangouts will be dropping SMS support from tomorrow. I've looked around and the best alternatives appear to be EvolveSMS and Hello SMS. Both look really slick and feature rich. I prefer the UI of these over Chomp/Handcent etc.

From the article:
The feature was confusingly named "SMS for Hangouts," and was basically a way to forward notifications. If a user didn't have a data connection, Google would forward Hangouts messages via SMS. It was only available in countries with limited mobile data connectivity like India and Guam. Now that the Hangouts app supports SMS natively, Google must feel less compelled to keep up with this feature.

This doesn't affect SMS support in the Hangouts app

SMS support is not being dropped from Hangouts just this particular feature of forwarding Hangouts messages via SMS when no data connection available, I think you need to read the article again ;)

Does anyone use the unlocked version of Yatse XBMC remote? Does it store downloaded media on your SD card or on your device's memory? I can't seem to find an answer anywhere.. Just debating purchasing it.

Cerberus is awesome, you have to pay for it and need root for full awesomeness.

What are people using for backup? Titanium? Just rooted my new phone and want to be able to save images to SD or PC etc.

Also security.. How safe are the image files presuming you can just load them up into a similar device?
