New essential Android apps thread

Same as with Outlook.com I presume!

If you have Two Step authentication turned on, you need to make an 'App Specific' password in your security settings in Outlook/Hotmail

New Gmail app has got to be the first email client that has properly detected the settings for my my server correctly.

Material design looks great, and it's nice to have all my email in one place

Think it just might be the best smartphone and tablet mail client there is now on any platform.

Dont like the new gmail app, considering that this is the app people spend the most time in on their phone it has to be much better for me.

Red and white blocks doesn't do it for me, inbox layout and size isn't that great either, there should be an expert mode inside this app to make it much more customisable.
Actually bar the multiple account setup id say its a step back from 4.9, even K9 and aquamail do this much better

ok cool. so my existing email address for my domain that use imap will work exactly as i'm used to with say, K9 mail, with the difference i select labels and not folders? and when i change the emails label, this will be read correctly by my desktop mail client (thunderbird) as the email should be put into a folder?

Material Design file explorer. It's fairly simplistic, but if all you need to do is move files around then it's fine :)

Is there a calendar app me and my wife can share?

By share i mean if either of us adds an event it auto appears on both calendars and only means we have to have 1 calendar to view?

If you go here: https://www.google.com/calendar/render

And create a new calendar under "My calendars", click the little arrow on the right side of the new one you created and go to "Calendar settings". On the top select "Share this Calendar", add your wife's gmail and set her permission to "Make changes to events". This will allow both you and her to edit that calendar, and any calendar app compatible with Google calendar can see it.

Yes if you use gmail / googles calendar and enable sharing - you can both view and edit each others calendar items (or just view if you dont fancy your wife deleting things you've added ;) )
