New essential Android apps thread

I've actually uninstalled the new Calendar as there are a few UI flaws within it I wasn't fond of for how I use it. Today calendar though, just installed that having read about it on reddit and I've also now uninstalled Business Calendar Pro. Today is far far nicer, has Material UI too.

My only minor crit with the widget (Agenda) is I wish that the entry background could be made transparent too like the main widget background can but it's only a minor thing.

Can you post a screenie of what you mean?

See the pale grey background on each agenda entry? That!

Same there isn't Facebook integration with Today Calender like there is with Sunshine. Makes it easier to know who's birthday it is and events to RSVP / comment on etc.

Do agree that Today looks and functions better than Google Calender though.

But facebook's app will notify you of active events like birthdays and FB calendar items so no need for them to be in the homescreen widget!

Oh yeah, just had a look and now I notice it too, grrrrr - thanks for that lol - that's going to do my head in now!

Sorry.
Not sorry.

:D

I've done this so I can now see my Faceboook events and birthdays on my Google calendar.

Clipper+has now been updated with Material design. Gotta say all these UI updates are shaping up to making Android everything it needed to be in terms of user interface and uniform fluidity.

I wonder if the big apps will follow suit this time e.g. Facebook, Twitter, Instagram etc. Instagram is especially terrible, it looks and feels like a poor iOS app and totally ignores all of the usual Android app designs e.g. swipe left-right to change tabs, swipe down to refresh etc.

It's just baffling that these companies with massive development budgets are responsible for some of the laziest app designs.

:D

Rather not have Facebook app throw notifications at me to be honest. Have the sync turned off and everything.

I mean in terms of with Sunshine it gives you the options to post a message on the persons wall / text them or go directly to the event if you see what I mean. From withwithin the calender. Don't need to close open facebook etc etc

The problem with Sunrise is that it doesn't use calendars on the phone (in the Acounts & Sync menu). I've got some accounts setup using Caldav.

Sunrise just limits you to the services they support.

Today Calendar and Month Calender will just display any calendars that are synced to the phone.
