New essential Android apps thread

It is here (Nexus 5) :) At least, I have the same functionality, OOB experience with the google keyboard, unless SwiftKey does something magic other than predict what I'm going to type and allows slidy fingers

SwiftKey has more features and learning abilities than Google Keyboard does. While they both have "swiping" to type they are not the same thing with the over all package offering the same functionality. The keyboard layout itself is better (customisable) and more powerful in SiwftKey.

haha. swiftkey isn't swype.

anyway, Today month view widget isn't as good as Business Calendar imo. It just displays a dot as the event rather than text, meaning you have to tap on each event to see what it is? The font is too big on agenda view too?

Does anyone have any recommendations for the best app to control my PC through my tablet whilst I'm lying in bed? :D

I'm using Chrome Remote Desktop at the minute, but it's not great. I just basically want to be able to use my tablet as a mouse and then the mouse shows up on my PC screen at my desk. It's so I can watch por... watch National Geographic videos without getting out of bed.

Thanks!

what app / widget is this:

Unified Remote.

Part of cyanogenmod roms iirc

I use Internet Speed Meter light which does more of less the same thing

part of crdroid (which is built on cyanogen)

there's an xposed module called 'network speed indicator' which gives you almost identical to this, but slightly different look. it can be customised more than the one built into my rom, but then i'm reducing the amount of xposed modules i use as they rape ram.

I think he means the flow typing feature. TBH I swore by SwiftKey but gone back to using the stock Google keyboard. When ever I attempt to use SwiftKey that lag it takes for it to open hurts too much.

Trying Google keyboard again now.. Swiftkey just sempt to predict things better for me. But I'm all going to give this a chance because there's definite lag with Swiftkey.

As above, I moved away from Swiftkey and Swype as it felt slower to use compared to Google. I usually swipe type anyway so I don't need Swiftkey's next word prediction. At first the Google keyboard was not as accurate as Swype, but over time it became very accurate at what I'm swiping.
