New essential Android apps thread

Had a play with the browsers mentioned on here. My favourite is Boat browser but it doesnt do flash. Crome and cm do but I cant get into them. I wish Boat would follow suit and do flash.

tried it before...what's so special?

UC Browser is worth a try. Great gestures and has font size boost.

HD version for tablets.

they layout for it is perfect for me.

been bouncing between opera, chrome, aosp, firefox dolphin etc for months, not really enjoying using any of them (there will be one small thing with each that makes me switch).

so far using this, i haven't found such a niggle. i'll give it time tho, will probably find something not to my liking :p

What in people's opinion is the best Strategy game on Android? Paid or free, it doesn't matter so long as the game is good.

I would say I like games like Rome: Total War and games which include dragons.

Any suggestions?

Do you not find that CM doesn't scale the sites properly for phones screens, meaning double tap zoom doesn't work properly?

I enjoy using Boat as well but after KitKat it doesn't seem the developers have much motivation improving it (no auto hiding address bar for KK+, old UI, etc). Just stability improvements...

Been using the beta version of Dolphin so far, currently my main browser. I don't really enjoy autofit/text resizing so it's not really needed for me. Firefox is my backup.

UC honestly felt a tad too bloated.

CM, there was something about it that didn't really feel right for me.

Chrome... I like using my adblock :p.

Not having auto text adjustment makes 1 handed browsing really difficult.

CM renders the full page like this:
So double tap zoom does this:

Whereas on Dolphin it's clever enough to adjust the text like this:
So that double tap zoom is easily readable:

Dolphin does this on most sites so single handed browsing is a doddle.

Very likely a really dumb question, but can anyone one recommend a large but simple anolog clock widget for my 2012 Nexus 7? I mostly use it in portrait mode and it needs to be central, therefore a width of 4 or 6 blocks. It also needs to be modern looking / minimalistic. Cheers!

The standard android one can't be resized any bigger than 2x2.

each to their own, but i REALLY hate that...

text reflow over that any day (such as the plugin for firefox), or as i do it currently, make text size big enough to read without having to zoom, or if necessary rotate phone.

Opera seems to have the best zoom/text reflow on Android. I also use Dolphin which works quite well when the double tap zoom is set but if you zoom in more the text reflow does not seem to work?

Trying Opera and liking it so far. I like being able to have the tabs show along the top like Dolphin.

What's the beat between Opera and Opera Mini?

Opera is the full browser based on Blink, Opera Mini uses their VPN services to compress the data to save data on web browsing. Although if you're using Opera Max to compress all your mobile data, then you don't need Mini.
