New essential Android apps thread

Anyone able to recommend an app to sync my laptops Outlook calendar with my OnePlus One? Remember this will be via either USB or Bluetooth.

Thanks

I'm choosing the direct conenction as I dont want my calendar up on some cloud, I could go with a wifi option, but if they do that then they also support direct connection.

Can anyone recommend an app that puts my phone on silent between two times (11pm to 9am for instance) but would still allow for an alarm to be used?

Thanks

Tasker or Llama. If Lollipop and it uses those weird new sound profiles, set it to priority mode and only allow the alarm app.

Not new - but i've been really impressed with Aqua mail. Gmail was battery draining my M8 badly, yahoo's own was rubbish, but aqua mail has been superb, simple, easy to use etc.

Just to say as a recent adopter of Android (again) this has been a useful thread.

Someone here recommended Pushbullet and its clearly an awesome app. Loved the ability to sent messages from my browser. But I've experienced a couple of major issues that mean I can't use it.

1. The app changes the little notification in the top left from app specific to a pushbullet icon. This means you can't quickly distinguish what the notification is by looking at the icon.
2. I noticed on Monday I missed 5 emails as I had no notifications for them. I know my other Android device wasn't in use or I was logged onto my PC.

So assuming that I didn't do anything wrong these are deal breakers for me which is a shame because I love the app otherwise.

1) Disable "Sync notifications across Android" in the settings. This attempts to sync your notifications across other Android devices which can get messy.
2) Check your app block list ("Only for some apps"). Make sure you don't hit "Mute notifications for this app" when it pops up on your PC, otherwise it will add that app to the block list.

If using Gmail, in the app go to Settings -> Your Gmail account -> Manage labels and ensure notifications has been turned on for all labels. As default only Primary is on, which seems silly.

1) Reply...

Cheers for the quick reply.

1. Does that mean the other Android device won't receive notifications, or is simple a way to restore the individual app notifications?
2. I know I hadn't muted notifications and I had other notifications. But will check on Gmail settings.

Sounds like I should give it another chance.

Pushbullet will show your device's notifications to other devices, which will appear as a Pushbullet icon. Turning this off means only the device's notifications will appear, allowing it to use the app's normal icons.

Would also suggest turning off universal copy and paste as I found it can slow down copy/pasting a bit.

Thank you again. Thought there was a chance I was missing something and I should share my experience here.

Will give the app another chance.

EDIT - Seems to be working in the few tests I've done, just by 'deactivating' the sync across Android devices option.
