New essential Android apps thread

To get surveys you need to visit retail parks and supermarkets. In 9 months I've had about £30 to spend on the play store. Answer honestly as it will know from your location on said date if you were at the store or not.

This is quoted back from some weeks ago when I mentioned I'd never had any surveys for ages. Since then and although not really visited any retail centers much, seem to have had a lot of surveys with a peak of 7 the other Sunday. Seem to average 1 every other day and questions are varied. Currently have £4.30 in my 'survey bank' :D

Recently got a 6P and noticed for some reason Chrome 51 is not syncing my bookmarks or tabs, tried force syncing, tried signing out and back in, tried clearing app data but it still wouldn't sync. Uninstalled updates back to 44 and now it's working. Looking at the reviews on the Play store, Chrome 51 looks broken.

Can anybody recommend an app that will let me (via a widget) add an app/shortcut to an app onto my homescreen? Unfortunately on my phone any shortcuts have the app title/name underneath which I'd like to remove. I'm hoping there might be a 'shortcut' widget app that I could use to work around this!

Thanks.

To answer my own question: QuickShortcutMaker does the job. Not perfect as you must specify a label. I just used a space but this means the icon is not centralised on the grid, sitting above a 'hidden' name. Any others let me know, but this seems fine so far...

Do you have a PC? Microsoft Money Plus is free and actually very good for this.

I made a video the other day of some of my most used and most useful daily apps

Love vids like that as it just gives a good insight into day to day use, so thank you!

Giving Llama, SpeakerphoneEx and Rotation a try! :D

I definitely need to get back into using Lastpass but when I moved over to Chrome there were some conflicts and between the two data got screwed up and haven't had time to look at this. I presume the app imports details from browser?

Another option is to just use a different launcer. Nova launcher has an option to hide app names.

£2.17 here and no idea what to spend it on. Spent the last lot on icon packs but don't need more of them.

Nearly £5 now. 4 surveys yesterday. I too have no idea to spend it on at the moment. I went for a couple of months or more end of last year without a survey and now they come thick and fast. Location doesn't seem a big factor as I live and work in the middle of nowhere.

I work at two sites one of which Google Now calls 'work' . Totally rural and maybe only ever pass a handful of cars on route except I pass two village schools when chaos develops at drop off'pickup times as the school mums (and dads) abandon their cars 6 deep around the school gates  Google Now picks up on school start/finish times and tells me there is 1 to 2 minutes delays. Even in the middle of nowhere Google knows what is going on.

It's taken me over a month to get £2.13. I thought it was because I don't have data on when out and about and only enable wifi at home or down the pub. :p

I remember one of the questions: have you ran an ultra marathon recently? I did not lie. The answer was **** no. :D
