New five pound note

Prefer to have cash on me, I rarely pay with cards.

I find it easier to track what iI have spent as well as the fact that if I lose my card, it gets stolen, cloned or damaged I can still pay for things.

I find it odd that people would prefer not to have cash, or at least a small reserve of cash just in case.
 
Don't like the idea of abolishing cash. I don't usually carry a lot but I do like it.

How else will you get building work done on the cheap if cash is abolished? :p

Probably less than a most coins;)

At one point when the copper price was high a few years back old one and two penny coins made before a certain date (with a higher copper content) were actually worth more than their face value as raw materials.

Not for a few years I think, they retire old designs every few years for new (usually more secure) versions but this is the first of a totally new generation of BOE issued notes and probably the biggest improvement in security/design since the introduction of the metal strip.

If nothing else it should mean they remain in circulation far longer than current fivers as they're plastic and I think the average fiver currently only last about a year before they get too tatty or damaged which is one of the reasons we don't see as many as other notes which can last a lot longer.
 
Can be sticky at first, I've been given two plastic fivers change a couple of times and returned the extra one. Once they've gotten past the initial stickiness they are great and so much better than paper money that can get torn easily.
 
Got my first one tonight - massive improvement!

Given the material, it probably hasn't soaked up common cold, flu and ebola given the fact that they're usually shoved up chavs' noses! At the very least it's washable if it has done!
 
Seem pretty good to me, A few people have raised the issue of the change in size and therefore the issues with self-service tills and also vending machines. But most of these take contactless now so if I do hit an issue, I'll just use alternative payment. The fact they go through the wash ok brings a new meaning to money laundering!!

This. I don't tend to carry cash at all.

The fiver's a great improvement over the old one. I'm looking forward to the new tens and twenties because the old ones don't always fit well in my tiny card holder.
