New ford focus RS

Hmmm I read the review on the Evo, don't think the RS will have much to worry about over an 8 year old Evo X... It will have it beat
Since we had synchromesh gearboxes heal and toe hasn't been needed.. It does its own pops and crackles on the over run anyway.
You can always left foot brake if on a rally stage lol

Ford could do any interior it wanted... If it spent a bit more at its suppliers.

Have an EVO beat? I don't think so to be honest, an FQ-360 is faster in a straight line and has a superior AWD setup. I can see them being close but an EVO X would edge it on both road and a track I feel. :)

A Carterham 7 would trump them both.

Ever since being turned down for a test drive I've lost interest... Im sure that won't keep Ford up at night. For every one RS there are probably 50 potential buyers!

Person buying a Caterham aint looking at a Focus or EVO. :D

The RS doesn't even have a Center diff. Just because it is newer doesn't mean it is better. Companies like Mitsubishi have done the R&D over the past 30 years and are at the top of their game when it comes to performance AWD tech especially in this segment. FWD based haldex or this system just isn't on the same level despite the Mitsubishi's age.

We will see, I don't see it the same way.... I woundn't under estimate what the Blue oval can do when it puts it's mind to it and the accountants let them!!! .....

Hi there

A rather promising review:

Look beyond the interior and accept it for the car it is a hot hatch will great performance, fantastic grip levels and I can forsee owners being very happy.

But if I had 30k to spend on a b road warrior car with incredible all weather grip as good as the Focus RS is, I'd be buying an EVO X FQ-360 for around 20k and have a car that is well faster at pretty much everything with little to no depreciation. 10k saved and well my opinion is an EVO X is a better looking car with superior 4WD system and much rarer on the roads than a Focus.

But taking away from that the Focus RS looks a great car and if new car is important then at 30k with sub 5s 0-60, 4WD torque vectoring it has to be another great value proposition from Ford.

With Fiesta ST, Mustang and now Focus RS seems Ford have some great cars that are also selling very well. :)

yea that Focus RS looks good, it would look really nice in Grey too

I've thought about it a lot and i'd actually prefer to buy a Mk2 for £20K over a Mk3 and then put the rest on upgrades.

I just would rather have the five cylinder engine.

Perhaps wait for the demo cars to be here and have a test drive... a lot of improvements to give up to gain one cylinder....
Mk2 still a great car.... I had a test drive and so nearly bought one when they came out...... this time I've committed :D

It's also an extra ten thousand. At the same price it would be down to test drives but really i'd rather have the fantastic noise and money to spend on making it noisier and faster over the 4WD system.

My car is an MP260 ST and three years after purchase, the deep bellow, burble, pop, whistles, and bangs still make me smile and giggle like a child.

Apparently they made quite an effort to ensure the 4 pot still makes a nice noise, then does all the pops and bangs and burbles. :)

Not just a 4WD system, an independent rear wheel torque vectoring system, (not a halex set-up either) that's as much about handling and chassis dynamics than it is about out right grip.... So it will run rings around a Mk2

5 to 4 pot I think will not be any issue, 3 to 5 door is a shame, I'd liked it if they had kept to a 3 door.....finally it's not a limited or fixed production run as I understand... So numbers could go quite high.

Read somewhere Mountune have had one since end of last year.... So who knows what will come of that

A good few of them just arrived at my local place... Blue, Black, Stealth Grey and White.... All with various options (Sunroofs, upgraded seats, normal seats etc)

Look ok :)

ThinkFord Guildford just got a fair few in including a demo, although the list for test drives is apparently very long. My friend who has one pre-ordered might get a test drive shortly.
