Let's not forget they provide these forums and upgrades for free people. I can only imagine the bandwidth costs it would accumulate to run a forum this size. Things are a little different at the moment but give it time and I'm sure things with either adapt to how they were or you will get used to the new way the forum looks/works.

People don't seem to appreciate how much hardwork and man hours go into making/maintaining websites/forums.

Yes, it's only taken me a few hours to throw together a bit of CSS to tweak the design, but that comes with 20 years experience from my line of work.

I see this mentioned a lot. But OcUK would not run them at such a cost if they didn't bring in extra business. They are not free. The cost is factored into the cost of running the business and passed onto us in the prices of products. It's a superb way of keeping people loyal to OcUK. Most businesses would love a similar way of keeping a loyal user base returning frequently.

You must realise that OcUK likely make a fair amount of cash from people on this forum buying stuff?

Yes of course. Which is why they are going to take on all the feedback and improve/update in due course.

It's not the way I would have launched the new site if I'm being totally honest. I'm sure they do have a staging/test environment set up behind closed doors and I do find it hard to believe that this was signed off and OK'd by the top brass as being an acceptable state to launch in.

Mistakes happen. It's how we handle them afterwards that defines us.

People dislike change. Its not a given that it wasnt a good change for them overall, that is literally their business. They should have kept a little button to allow the previous version as a switch, maybe thats not possible. The shop change is fine by me, not a big deal except I'd prefer it all darker themed not white. Ive used them since before I registered here. You can sort the products, its fine.
Surely the biggest market sector expanding is mobile use, maybe thats their focus

I installed the tampermonkey version, its just subtle revisions then

Yes i think a separate Beta Forum would have thrown up a lot of these issues sooner, but understand there would be cost implications to this. Hopefully they will fix a lot of the bugs quickly and start adding back the functionality we have enjoyed.

It doesn't take 20 years of experience to come up with a comfortable stylesheet.

Mobile browsing isn't too bad though, my only gripe there is that there's a box unnecessarily in a box ;)

I gave my permission in my first post. OcUK can take it and do what they want with the CSS.

Can only thank you (& the guy who came up with the dark theme, I'm still switching between them trying to find my favourite).

But don't forget, you guys knocked these themes together in a couple of hours (max) while whatever designers/developers involved spent probably considerably more time developing the 'new' look that was released. Possibly months in advance. Quite how they got it so wrong, is worrying! :o

Thought the 8 year old web designers were on half term, not working on the OCUK web team ;)
