NEW GAMING PC FOR 18TH BIRTHDAY PRESENT. HELP!

Hello Craig the price is £2599.99

so basically the below as a similar build. I'd pass

the msi x570 tomahawk is a good board...but for £2599, still seems a little rich esp if OCuk will build for £180 to £200...no extra fans so works out cheaper you buying the parts and OCuk building it.
My basket at Overclockers UK:
Total: £2,338.58 (includes shipping: £14.70)

Always the Rapier.. put 5800x, 32gb crucial ballistix 3600c16, 1tb sn850. Again would need to change psu...not quite the looks of the 011d, but same muscle for less

My basket at Overclockers UK:
  • 1 x OcUK Gaming Rapier - AMD Ryzen 5600X, GeForce RTX 3070Ti Gaming PC = £2,025.91
    • Security Software:**Special Offer** Bullguard Internet Security - Anti-Virus and Security - 1 Year 3 PC
    • Operating System:Microsoft Windows 10 Home Advanced - Systems
    • Case:phanteks Eclipse P360 Air Mid Tower Case Tempered Glass DRGB,- Glacier White
    • Processor:*Build Stock* AMD Ryzen 7 5800X Eight Core 4.7GHz (Socket AM4) Processor - Tray
    • 2.5" SATA Solid State Drive 1:Unwanted
    • Storage Drive:Unwanted
    • Memory:Crucial Ballistix RGB 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4 PC4-28800C16 3600MHz Dual Channel Kit

Total: £2,040.01 (includes shipping: £14.10)
So above is 2040, case costs around £73, so swap for 011d@£135.95...now 2103..take out mobo ( so lets assume the pro4 @£130), so £1973..add £180 for x570 tomahawk or B550 gaming edge wifi as other option..£2154...add uni fans sl(on offer at £54 per triple pack and as daisychain, they shouldn't charge £10 a fan), so you'd be £2314(plus what they want to charge you for the fan install)....also take out 240mm aio...no idea..cheapest £55 add corsair 360 £119....so £2378 approx...

got to 5min 57 for rough idea what it'll look like..that's black case and fans though, and using same board I have, so you'd have to add another £50...different aio also, but he's swapped fans out for all uni ones....is that the kind of build youre lookinbg for?

I would say you need to decide on the look you are going for then you can finalise the build. The actual electronic component we are advising do not change that much. Things to decide. Black or white case ? Then pick the one you like the most? After that it is quite simple. We are just going around in circles at the moment.

Hello Everyone

Sorry have been very busy.

Thanks for you patience and continued help

Your right, needed to be more focussed and I have spoken to my son and shown him some videos and we definitely want the following:
White lian li midi case
3 fans on top, bottom and side. My son wants fans to light up so I think that narrows it down to Lian li AL20 or corsair fans.
If you think the AL20 are new and a good spec maybe stick with them as they might suit case better. You mentioned the lian li galahad for top but once again i am open to your advice.

My son has seen the big lian li strimmer plus light and he likes that so might add that now as well. Might need two as videos i have seen have two not sure they are a bit bright?

I do not mind the other components being black for contrast. If everything white might be a bit to much.

Anyway reliant on your expert advice to get this sorted

Thank you again

Peter

"White lian li midi case" - Do you mean Mini ? or medium as in the Dynamic ?

The Lian Li Galahad is a very good AIO, overkill for a 5800x but that does mean you can run the fans on lowest rpm and will be almost silent. The 360 version comes with 3 ST120 fans, decent fans but not as pretty as the Lian Li AL120 fans that have multiple sections that light up independently and have brushed aluminium sides. I am not certain the controller that comes with the new AL120 3 pack is compatable with the older ST120 so you may need a couple of pieces of software to control all the rgb.

It is very hard to do an all white build. If you wanted a white gpu then the only option readily available seems to be the Gigabyte Vision 3070 unless OCUK have others stashed away they are not telling anyone about. The other gpus we have suggested are mainly all black.

Strimmer cables - Never really looked into these. I think Craig knows lot more than me and has one he never used.

For GPU - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lian-li-strimer-8-pin-rgb-pcie-vga-power-cable-cm-018-ll.html
Or - https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lian...in-rgb-pcie-vga-remote-control-ca-78n-ll.html - for gpu with 3 8 pin connectors
24pin Mobo -https://www.overclockers.co.uk/lian-li-strimer-rgb-24-pin-motherboard-cable-cm-017-ll.html

The rgb cables will be a real octupus so you will certainly have to make sure OCUK are ok with doing the build for you. There is a lot of room round the back of an O11 so thats not a problem but it may not be pretty to look at.

Hello Haz123

Thank you
Yes sorry it it’s the medium dynamic case
I don’t need the build to be all white. I am happy for components to be black as well.

Now we know overclockers will swap case
Which of your previously advised builds would you choose for the lian li medium dynamic case
As the best build.
Thank you again
Peter

The fans on the Lian Li Galahad will not match the others. If you want them all to match then get a 3rd set of the AL120s and get OCUK to fit those to the AIO and not the ST120 that come with the Galahad. Or just get 2 sets of ST120s and not the AL120s , your choice. I personally would ask them to fit the Galahad AIO to the top and not to the side.

The above build is very good and has no low spec components. The only controversial component is the Gigabyte Vision 3070. I put that in because it will match the build looks wise and because they charge £200 more for a 3070ti that has just 10% more performance or an extra £500+ for a 3080 which is a lot of money and only really worthwhile if you game at 4k resolution.

I forgot to add the strimer cables if you want them just add

Hello Haz123

Fell asleep last night
Thank you for updated spec. I think I might
Go for the higher spec graphics card that we were going to get originally. I will just wait to see Craig’s comments and then I think we are sorted.

You menston putting Galahad on top which is fine. Would you still change the on it to al20s
If the Galahad is Positioned here? I suppose
The answer is yes to get all fans synced

Would you wait to Black Friday or do you think
Prices will remain pretty much the same?
Once again thanks for you patience and help

Peter

1- I think I might go for the higher spec graphics card that we were going to get originally.

2-Would you still change the on it to al20s

3-Would you wait to Black Friday or do you think

Peter

1- I originally advised the Asus TUF 3070ti from the configurator. I chose this one for the performance of the 3070ti and because I know the Asus cooler is good. The cooler is absolutely massive and has an all metal shroud which feels like quality and not just a piece of plastic like some are. It is not the blingiest card on the market but with all the lights you are putting in the case it doesnt need to be imo. I have an Asus 6800 TUF so I got to actually feel and disassemble the cooler. The other options in the configurator available are A- Asus RX 6800XT TUF +£500, B- Asus Strix 3080 white edition +£550, C-Gigabyte 3080ti (not stated what version) +£800. Those prices are the comparative increase over the Gigabyte 3070 Vision which is already an expensive gpu.

2- I have severe STD and seeing mismatched fans would drive me crazy. I would go for either all AL120s or all ST120s. Will cost £180+ for 3 packs of AL120s or just £60+ for 2 packs of ST120s. Both sets of fans light up but the AL have a fancier light array , bigger blades so will give better airflow at lower noise levels and the sides are covered in brushed aluminun and are subtly lit. The AL will look nicer but both will do their main job of moving air.

3- If you just wanted a working PC with generally the components we have advised then yes waiting for a great deal would be an option. If you want a more custom spec and look then there is very little chance you will get the whole package you want come up in a BF deal. If you were willing to order a deal that came available then change some stuff around or add fans you may get lucky with a deal that suited your needs. If you leave it too late then something is bound to go out of stock and could mess up the entire build delaying it or meaning you have to make wholesale changes to get the spec or look you are happy with.

Ok, going alderlake as a diff option

a little bit of calculation required.. Went with 12thgen alderlake 12600k as up there with 5800X, beating it in some benchmarks...as build below is new to OCuk, they always give a discount before putting price up, so might as well use it.
Things to take off, case£89.99, ram £49.99, psu..guess kolink 700w bronze £54.95, 240mm argb aio £75(cheapest I saw)...so roughly £270...so build now £1772

Adding
32gb corsair ram £140(crucial +£10), dynamic case white£136, psu £95(corsair rm850x +£35), lets go all in on lcd aio£250(corsair same price on preorder, screen meant to be better though but square with round screen), 9 al fans on off (£195), strimmer plus for mobo £53 so £869

So £2641 roughly with lcd aio...put both aio below so can choose, so just X73, can knock off £90..and then add strimmer according to power requirement of the gpu, or get white braided cables to tie in. you could also buy the light enhanvement kit for £30(OCuk doesn't sell them) and finish the look on ram so all 4 slots look populated

Also if going for 12700k, add £120 but then you have a system trading blows with 5900X and 5950X

Would get a black and white look.

if want to switch from 3070ti to 3080 Ventus OC, then +£400

I put 1tb Sn850 as main drive and 2tb sn550 as 2nd...ditched the hhd drive..

9 ql120's will set you back close to £300 instead of £195, and you'd have to get the commader pro to for £45, so you'd have to add £150 for the ql fan setup...you could also save £85 by dropping the 1tb sn850 and using the 500gb SN750 Se as the OS drive
