New Gaming Rig Advice..

...go and play your bug ridden, unoptimised game for unreliable results :p

I love your love for Early Access games.

How the bloody hell do I download UPlay to install Ghost Recon Wildlands? Can't find a link anywhere. May be better to test on that like you said.

No problem, I will from now on. Thanks mod for cleaning it up.

Been playing Battlegrounds now for a couple hours, it's really running great! We have got an overclock to come yet as well :D

Seems to be!

Haha well at the moment it's only 3.2ghz isn't it? I've seen we should be able to get it up to maybe 3.8?

Just come off from playing for a few hours. I didnt get one stutter the whole time. Hope that is a sign for other games.

Will test Arma tomorrow to see.

How can you order and build a PC from scratch (admittedly with a lot of help) - and still not know the power spec of your components?

Bad Beady!

Your CPU has 6 cores each with a base clock of 3.2GHz but will boost to 3.6GHz when under load - t'is why I suggested it for your gaming rig :p

We could go for a clock in a couple of weeks - but 3.6GHz should see you grinning for a while

I knew that, I promise :D Haha it's just that I saw it as 3.2 in BIOS so presumed.

Very happy so far.

Great stuff - i'm just glad it appears to have worked out for you in the end.

That's why I think you should enjoy it for a good couple of weeks before we introduce a clock - also helps validate its stability at stock and gives you more time to become accustomed with your system. Plus, you may want to consider a third party cooler if you do choose to venture down the overclocking path...
Thanks for all your help Plec.

Who shall I contact regarding my Steam voucher with Gigabyte?

Beady - updates! :p

Was about to post to you when I saw this :D

I haven't had chance to test any other games out yet... did I tell you I'm slightly addicted to Battlegrounds? You should definitely get it answering your previous post, some of the most tense game play you can have when you get pretty far in to a round.

In terms of performance it's been great, a big improvement on my i5 for sure. Close to zero stuttering and I must have played over 10 hours since I got my new PC. I have installed Ghost Recon: Wildlands, will be giving that a go tomorrow as well as Arma and Rust just to see if there is any improvement. If there isn't we can just put it down to the games as I have completely changed my whole rig now.

But yeah, loving Ryzen so far!

Just played Ghost Recon: Wildlands for a couple of hours. Put everything on Ultra, Averaged 40-60fps, mostly in the 50-60 range. Is that about what I should be expecting? Felt great, very smooth, looked beautiful! It did have the odd stutter but there was maybe 3 or 4 in over 2 hours so I can't complain, I find I'm concentrating way to much on FPS and stutter now rather than actually enjoying the game - need to stop that. I did have GTA 5 downloading at the same time. But yeah I'm loving it so far. Will test GTA out after.

Just gave GTA a go, was a little jittery in the opening scene but seemed to be fine after that, I didn't realise until the end in the game settings my refresh rate was only 50hz for some reason, changed that now to 144hz.

How do you make sure everything is turned off in the background?

Also I don't know what the temps were like as still haven't figured out how to check them?

Has been booting fine :D
