OK, power down - disconnect the HDD (best to only have one drive connected).

Looking for driver we will need so that it intsalls drivers for AHCI - or you can install as IDE - for the Vertex 2 probably very little difference.

Not sure my brother is bothered if it's AHCI or IDE, he won't notice to be fair. I just want to get it up and running for him now (been working on it all day now).

Basically, either the firmware on you SSD isn't up to date or your windows 7 is a very early release. Either way you need to download INTEL drivers and install them before the window install - just after formatting and before install.

But this is an old drive - we can't find the firmware from a legit site so i think we'll stick with IDE - you'll notice very little difference with that drive.

Right unplugging SSD has worked. In Bios. What shall I change?
