We could do this with your ssd still attached to your brother's PC - and may manage to get ot load up.

How do I know not to register it to that PC? We aren't actually going through the windows set up here are we? I'm a bit confused.

Just read this:

In order to register your install of Windows 10 an activation code will be created to uniquely identify your system. This is likely going to be some type of a hash code based on your unique system hardware configuration. It will probably use a combination of individual hardware ID’s for multiple items in your system like the hard drive, network card, video card. motherboard and possibly your Microsoft account to build this unique identifier.

Sure there is no way my Windows won't activate once I've linked my ms account again?

My brothers PC is up and running fine now, I dont want to mess that around and give myself a massive headache.

Can't find anything concrete on the web - they all talk about getting the product key back via software.

Yours is linked to your MS account - but to a different piece of hardware so again unsure how this will pan out when you can't recite the key or load up the hardware.

Does that make sense?

As long as you're happy to proceed. Just making you aware i'm not guaranteeing windows activation...

I think it will - as it's registered to your account, but concerned you haven't got the key is all.
