Wish I saw this 2 hours ago!:(

Lucid driver from ScottiB's link

I then tried the lucid driver that came on the disc, now it won't install either, getting the exact same message as above.

Tried the following different installs:
D-mode
Disabled Xfire
Install direct from Intel HD Gfx on board, all the same error.

What's that all about?

Considering I could have bought the P67A-GD65 for less with more working features ScottiB, how about getting me a GD65 and swapping this MB for me?

Not exactly legal with the false advertising and all that!

got the lowdown on the issue from HQ.

the problem is that we have two boards with the same PCB and same BIOS (GD55 and GD65). The BIOS only works with one license, the GD65, the GD55 license isnt registering properly. They are working on a fix now. Sorry about this, but the issue is temporary, we have a valid license, we just fix the delivery method.

Please don't ask me for RMA support, I work in marketing and have no influence at all over returns issues. I'll bend over backwards to help you with any issues you have, get you answers and hopefully a fix but that's the limit of my capabilities.

Thanks for the help ScottiB, I have asked OCuk if I can return the board as it doesn't meet its description.

If there was a fix then I would be happy to keep it as it's a great board, but when it costs me hours of fiddling without resolve, experience tells me there may be more hours wasted trying possible fixes.

I have just realised that the promotion terms state you must provide a copy of the paper receipt and that emails/online receipts are not acceptable but OCuk didn't include a paper copy in the parcel.

Can someone from OC tell me where we stand or if you can provide a paper receipt?

it's pretty rare for that to be missing because the invoice is used in both the picking and packing stage. The person packing the order has to scan the barcode on the invoice before they can ship the order. We do need to see the actual invoice though as it's proof that the order was shipped (& it's harder to fake than an email/web receipt)

5UB has sent me a pdf of the original receipt (very fast response too :)). I take it that will be acceptable if I can get someone to print it? (Inkjet and Laser both ran out this week :().

Quick question, would be even better if ScottiB can confirm this
If i buy not just the motherboard but few other things, basically it will be minused from the invoice and cashback applied only to the motherboard, or do i need to buy motherboard only? cheers

so buying few bits and bobs is alright? i dont have to buy mobo only? what i mean is if there is more than one thing on the invoice, is that alright? cheers

no need to only buy a motherboard, buy a full PC full of components if you wish, invoices are itemised so there will be no problem claiming. After all, we are offering to refund the VAT paid on the motherboard, that will be easy to work out from the invoice.

Thanks for letting me know, just want to make sure, would've never paid that much otherwise, for a mobo that is, simply becouse i wont use all the functions on it :)

I'm still not sure if it's 20% of the total price for the consumer or just the VAT back.

The Terms and Conditions are contradicting, as is the OP.

No mention on what the RRPs are either.

well from what the msi guy said in one of his replies yesterday

snip... we are offering to refund the VAT paid on the motherboard snip...

so sounds like its not actually 20% but rather less than 17%

so for example those buying the z68a-g55 g3 £125 will get ~£21 back rather than ~£25, thats if they give the vat on what you paid(from what the msi guy was saying) or the rrp of the board(no idea what the rrp is) as mentioned elsewhere.

Here's the bit that throws me off:

3.3) The rebate you will receive will be 20% of your original invoice amount including VAT up to a maximum of 20% of the RRP of the board. Shipping is not included in the rebate.

We know the shipping is free for the forum members and we know that the "original invoice amount including VAT" will be higher than that excluding VAT.

So either the Terms and Conditions are contradicting themselves or MSI are not even sure what the offer really is.

That's not to mention the stupid part about the "RRP of the board" that is mostly a big unknown for us.

As promised, here is your new fixed BIOS :)

this is for GD55-G3 only and fixes the Lucid Virtu issue

I don't understand why you keep trolling, I've already made it clear that we are refunding the VAT on the board. 20% refers to the amount of VAT you pay. I'm sure you understand how to calculate VAT. Don't forget that VAT is a tax added to the cost of the board, it's not part of the cost, we are refunding 20% of the cost of the board.

You may have noticed that not every reseller sells at the same price, the RRP condition is there because we cannot stop resellers inflating their prices beyond the normal profit margins. Our RRP is more than fair for everyone.
