New Hitman game

Just finished the Paris level for the first time, then went back to the 2nd training mission and working though the challenges. Finding the game great so far, and I am more than happy to have it episodic, as I feel like I will get more out of the game, rather than complete a level then move on, which I've done in the past. With this I am forced to replay levels, and I am enjoying it!

Just bought it only to discover the settings locks out options it think your PC cannot handle. I have an R9 290 and can't set the texture quality higher than low. What a joke. Is there a workaround for this yet? If I want to play 1440p with the options maxed at 10fps then I should be able to  I got 40fps in the benchmark with all other options set to max at 2560x1440...

Had the same issue with my 280X, wouldn't let me touch the native res for my monitor. Upgraded to 390X and all is well.....Apart from the under-powered PSU....

Yes I was thinking the same thing. Instead of blasting through the game and missing lots of the quality content, I am going back over each level to try and find all the challenges etc. There is so much to do even in one map. The Paris level is brilliant and I haven’t even done half of it yet.

I'm actually enjoying replaying even the tutorials on this. So many different ways to finish the job. Enjoying the 'accidents' now, good fun.

I got it for a tenner worth it I think :) like to be a mass murder in it lol kill every one it is funny walking in the kitchen bit and butcher them all with the fire axe lol :D

heh heh, I did similar last night, I had been trying to complete lots of the challenges like the ones that say you can only kill the target and nobody else.

So on the final test I just decided to kill practically everyone instead. Great fun trying to hide all the extra bodies! My wife walked in at one point when I was dragging a naked man into a corner that already had a couple of bodies in it. It's not easy to explain what you're doing at times like that...

The whole locked down setting seem inconsistent. People with cards perfectly capable of pumping the texture detail up can't, yet people with older cards (like me) can. So it seems like vram isn't the only factor, or it's just simply broken.

There are hidden settings in the registry you can change, but the texture quality one just gets over-written by the launcher no matter what you try. They have gone to a lot of effort to dictate what settings people are able to use for seemingly no reason :/

So is it more like absolution or blood money in terms of gameplay?
The one thing that really annoyed me in the last game was the "focus" or whatever it was called element which you had to use to stay undetected.

Absolution wasn't a true Hitman game, it was dumbed down and more about over the top action than anything else... This new release is definitely a Hitman game, similar to blood money and contracts etc before it.

Having followed the series since the original, I'm very pleased that its back on track... yes I don't like the focus mode that allows you to see things you can use but it doesn't distract from the game too much.

Has anyone figured out how to get a sniper rifle yet?

Absolutely loving this now. I am still not even 100% on the tutorials yet. The Showstopper map (Paris) is brilliant, it really is a wonderful map. So much detail in it, it’s pretty impressive once you get to know it. So much to do. 30 hours in and apparently I’ve only done ten of the 24 assassination challenges. Avoiding looking up some of the more obscure ones and really enjoying finding them myself. It is bringing out my creative side.

Yes, I finally got the sniper rifle. You have to have unlocked a lot of the challenges on that map first. That also unlocks extra starting points and stashes. There seem to be two different stashes, small and large. You can only fit a sniper rifle in a large stash.

Still haven't figured out how to get around with the sniper rifle as you can't just go running around with it once you've got it. I think you really need to have unlocked all of the starting locations and most stashes to do some of the more creative challenges. Still working on it but it's great fun experimenting! :D Completed my first contract with a sniper rifle last night - it was amazing, totally different to the main missions. Will definitely be doing more of those.

I cannot remember the exact deets, but I remember having a pretty interesting interaction between multiple NPC's. Basically I poisoned some random drink, which turned out to belong to someone working behind the scenes for the runway models. He had to dive out mid-show and go be sick, but the "main guy" (always forget his name) was not all too fond of this at all. He started shouting at him, making fun of him, etc. Which was followed by his co-workers laughing at him. I then later caught him sitting outside on some bench crying to himself, putting him out of rotation for the rest of the level. I thought this was some great attention to detail, I'm sure there's a bunch of little things like this that I still haven't stumbled upon. Hopefully it continues throughout all the rest of the maps/levels.

Brilliant! Must try this myself. Apparently there are over 300 npcs in the map. I was following one yesterday as part of a Contract - huge scope for creativity here alright.
