New Hitman game

Well it's only one mission at the moment. It's like one mission from Blood Money, probably about as long too (and easier).

You could buy the intro pack on steam, complete it within 2 hours and then get it refunded.

Been playing this tonight, it's not too bad. Performance could do with being a little better though, a 970 would be fine at 1080P but struggles above that.

You could but your going down as a freeloader, just buy the full game and be done with it:)

Hmm Geforce Experience seems confused - suggesting very low settings and showing two version (dx12 + dx11) :S

Yea it's weird. My 780 can go to medium textures and high/ultra on everything else, but people with 970s only seem to be able to use low. I'm not sure what the deciding factor is O_o

It actually runs pretty well for me after doing the registry tweak I posted earlier though. Good ol' 2600k is still holding the line too :D

So is this actually any good? Is it more like Blood Money that Absolution?

What is the save game mechanic like, because the one in Absolution was retarded and ruined the game?

Yes and yes and it has a proper save function this time. Loving it so far.

You can save whenever you want or it just does it periodicity anyway.

They need to add a higher difficulty level with NO saves I think, like in Blood Money :D

Is anyone having issues with sound in this game?

I'm finding no sound in either cutscenes or game, this can be fixed my changing the frequency of sound in 'sound' from control panel, however if you do that cutscenes remain muted :(

I managed to get the game to run at first in DX12 but then it locked up at 75% when loading the training mission.. switching to DX11 works fine though :)

Same here. Seems that Nvidia users aren't actually able to run the game in DX12. :p

Wait...what? You buy this game an 'episode' at a time?

What genius thought that one up?

My thoughts exactly.

It's a tough decision as Hitman is in my top 5 game series but I won't pay AAA price for a potentially unfinished game (or a tenner for each part if part two comes out at the same price as the prologue bit- could be £60 altogether if bought 'episode by episode'). I really don't like this new way of game publishers milking customers and am voting with my wallet.

The game hasn't been developed episodically and this decision came late in the dev cycle, it's a terrible decision as the 'episodes' won't have cliffhangers or the momentum found in (most) games that have been intentionally developed episodically.

Very disappointing though as I do like Hitman games :(

But do all the people you have incapacitated/killed suddenly become alive again? That absolutely killed Absolution for me.

Why not just keep the same save game mechanic as Blood MOney (ie the amount of saves you get depend on the difficulty level so you have to choose where you save carefull) - that was a fantastic piece of game design.

The subsequent packs will be £7.99.

Personally I think it's a game that lends itself fairly well to being released in 'episodes'; Hitman games have never really been about the over-arching storyline, each level is its own self-contained thing so there's no narrative flow being broken by it being split into packs. I also quite like the idea that not having the entire game in front of me at once might encourage more exploration/replay of levels.

So I've only played this for a couple of hours so far, mostly the training missions but despite all the gripes of it being in episodes etc it certainly feels like a real Hitman game and that to me is what's important.

Very tempted by this and it will be my first hitman.

What are your thoughts on the amount of hints though? I was watching the giant bomb quick look and it almost seemed too easy in that the game specifically tells you where to go to progress a path. I know it can be turned off, but do you think it makes for a more interesting game that way?

No problems with it being episodic either. Price seems reasonable for the amount of content and it will encourage you to really get the most out of each episode as you wait.
