But you can already buy those things by choosing them when you buy the Mac Pro. There's no point in Apple making new SKUs for stuff that's been available for ages already.

Nobody? As you may be able to tell im fairly anxious to find out...!richieboy said:Anyone know when these updated models are available in their stores? Was planning on going to one on thursday to get a macbook but think im also going to pick up a mac mini if they have any updated ones?
I doubt they'd be available for a good 3-5 days instore as they have to be shipped to the retail stores.richieboy said:Nobody? As you may be able to tell im fairly anxious to find out...!
I got OSX86 onto this machine to test it as I wanted a Mac but didn't want to spend all that money and not like it after a while using it. I've now fell in love with it and willing to part with my money for a new iMac.Caged said:It's hard to tell, benchmarks are understandably non-existent seeing as you're running a pirated, hacked version of an operating system against the terms of the license
What do you use the machine for? Core 2 Duo's wipe the floor with pretty much anything AMD have, but if your current machine is running on RAIDed SCSI drives then obviously you're not going to notice a night-and-day difference by buying an iMac.

So is that 2400XT powerful enough to run older games like Half Life 2 at full-res of 1680x1050? And what about newer RTS like Command & Conquer 3? How would it do with Bioshock or Halo 2?

OSX86 is basically a cracked OS X version for PC users.Fstop11 said:whats OSX86. I assume its OS X for Intel/AMD PCs ?
Can you get Tiger OS X ?
Yeah, latest version seems to be 10.4.10. There are A LOT of problems with it though, and very tricky to install. Thats why I'm going legally now and get an iMacFstop11 said:Can you get Tiger OS X ?
Well it runs smooth if you have patience and the right hardware. For example, I had a x1950 pro but in OSX it was terrible because of no support, I popped in my old 7300 GS and it was great, and works a treat. My mobo doesn't support sound so I had to buy a USB sound card, plus it doesn't support my ethernet on my mobo so I had to use a PCI ethernet card. Though my AMD is fully supported and runs just as fast as most Mac's with intels.Fstop11 said:I take it it wont run silky smooth then. I would love a high performance Mac workspace but my Powerbook G4 just can't hack todays demanding requirements and I cant afford a iMac or MacPro yet.
