NEW MSI B550 UNIFY better than X570 UNIFY??

Ì

Ok cable should be fine this is really strange mate has your wife got a pc could you put the 970 in her pc and try with your monitor

That's the wierd thing, the 970gtx was pulled out of my old system {listed in my sig) except I sold the 5700xt gpu) and used with my Philips monitor using the dp cable no probs. I even had to move the 970 this morning for a few hours to finish some work with my old computer.

Only have one gpu till I can grab a 3000nividia.
Just tried updating to the new bios, that didn't change anything.

I installed the new bios actually its a lesser version then the beta that is now gone.

I'm not sure if it's coincidence but I can get to the bios with a dp using the Philips but only after I hit reset after it hanging first.

I don't know if I tried that before or not. But I tested it multiple times, I can only get in if it hangs ie code a1. Then I know it'll work if I see code a6.

I tried the gen 3 - didn't change anything.
I'll have to mess with it again tomorrow after work.

Don't know if it's a mb problem, bios, my 970gtx not compatible with this board or what.
Like to get it figured out so I know if I need to get a replacement board, or totally different one.

I'll test more tomorrow... Thanks for helping.

I'm wondering if I'd have this issue with a new 3000gpu... My goal to finish the build.

I grabbed it off the windows media creation tool, USB stick installed on 2 different sticks created in the past few days... I just ordered a high quality hdmi cable, will give it another shot with this new cable.

I talked to tech support where I bought the mb, they didn't think it was the mb but didn't have a clear answer.

Going to give a go with the new cable and see how I get along if my good monitor still doesn't work. I'll send the mb back and try another same model...

The tech support did suggest try installing windows again? I've literally done that 30x... And the good monitor with the dp cable is the issue getting to bios or hdmi...

To be honest I want it all setup because I need to decide if I can bear with the sound of the capellix aio, if not I'm going to get that phanteks one.

Let me know how you get on mate
Im still pleased with my phantek aio

Sorry people I have been through a tough time since last month. I went through 3 motherboards (2 B550 Unify and X570 Unify) plus 3 RM850x. Two of the PSUs that were sent to me were causing coil whine issues on the VRM (seller found same during RMA test), so I asked for it to be tested before it was shipped. I received one this week that was working fine on my X570 Taichi but the B550 Unify still had VRM coil whine so I sent it back so Im back on the Taichi.

What PSU was it?

Well got my hdmi 2.1 cable - hooked it to my Philips listed in my sig = no signal nothing. On the build. Hooked it to my laptop using a USB-c to hdmi converter... Pic popped right up.

Monitor 2 hdmi to build pic popped right up.

Oh! I've been spending so much time trying to get my mb to play nice with my monitor, I havnt had a chance to check/test my aio noise(there is some), but maybe part of that noise is coil whine? What kind of cooling did you have hooked up to your cpu? Meaning you were able to differeniate pump noise from coil whine?

To be honest mate i think its the monitor and board combo now theres not much more it can be but what it is god knows it doesnt make sense really as other monitor works

Ya, I tested it with a new hdmi 2.1 cable
1. Hdmi monitor 3 to new build no signal
2. Hdmi monitor 3 to laptop using a converter to USB c - picture is fine
3. Hdmi monitor 2 to new build bios and Windows is fine.
4. Hdmi monitor 3 to old computer (same gpu) bios and Windows fine.

I threw icue on there to get a feel to see how the noise is and coil whine. On the quietest setting

What do you make of this noise, the humming is the pump, but that shocking sound... Coil whine? I admit the coil whine is hard to hear over the pump but you can hear it.

Do you mind listening to the video I posted above and see what you think if this is coil whine. Ie not the hummimg that's the pump but that static sounds.

Yeh like you say hard drive not sure what it is to be honest is it a fan knocking somthing

Sorry there are 3 sounds in that video, the constant whirring of a cpu pump, the rhythmic sound of a clock and a static type of sound. There are no hds connected to my pc and no cpu/aio fan spinning (icue let's you set a zero rpm mode). Ie no fans spinning on the system at all during that vid.

Hi just listened to it through my amp and my pump doesnt make that whirling noise my fans make some noise but not pump the other noise could very well be a slight coil wine

So your pump is making what no noise? Ya to be honest that static type of sound can only be heard 1-1 1/2 feet from the cpu... Probably because the whirring pump noise is most noticeable.

Hmmm
