New North Korea pics

Funny how people see fit to pass judgement over NK when all they get is OUR propaganda, selectively shown to us.

We have NO idea of what it is really like there, apart from a few tid bits every now and again. How about looking back to WWII when you had pictures of Gorillas in Nazi helmets with blood all over their hands depicting the Germans ..... acurate portrayal?

Before anyone casts judgement, be aware you are making your assertions based on hand selected information. Do you think these 'amazing' photos were taken by a completely objective photographer?

Imagine if you took some photos of London in flames last month, and then some glasgow council estates, and finally some pictures of the Army torturing innnocent Afgan/Iraqi prisoners and used that to portray the UK - We'd be up in arms eh.

I totally agree. I hear its actually a well developed nation with thriving industry, ample food, busy highways and a fantastic quality of life.

It's the Worst Korea portraying this silly image of true Koreans living in poverty.

In fact, North Korea is the very first world nation with true liberties and infinity happiness all over the place.

Not an isolated communist nation with little to no freedom at all.

I think it's a widely accepted fact that NK is a **** place to live. Do some reading up on it, or are you one of those conspiracy nuts?

half those town/cities look devoid of life because they are lol..

they are purely for western media to make the place look "normal" the real north korea is malnourished slaves living in crappy conditions the whole country is a slave labour camp..

look at the photos of the kids the heads are massive compared to the malnourished looking bodies that obviously didnt get the nutrients and vitamins they needed when growing up

Watch Kimjongilia or one of the numerous documentaries or accounts from people who have escaped NK.

This tourism thing is a bad idea, NK is close to collapsing because of its money problems. The tourism is just going to perpetuate the problem of NK.

We must live in one of if not the freeest media / reporting and thinking country’s in the world, perhaps you need to visit a country with media controlled by the state to see how good we've got it?

So what you're trying to tell us is they've only shot the worst of NK, in actual fact they have lovely big well populated citys and a financial district which is better than Londons.......

I can't remember the exact details but it was covered in this video I watched on youtube.

From the video, "it's said that there's 64 million empty apartments in China" and "it's the modern equivalent of building pyramids, it doesn't really add to the betterment of peoples lives, all it does is promote GDP growth".

Interesting video. Certainly puts things into perspective concerning the UK's property market situation! Nowhere near as bad.

It really does feel like China is inflating bubbles for itself all over the place at the moment. I feel like those bubbles will burst within the next 20-30 years. Then the question will be whether the Chinese populace has what it takes to overthrow their government. Will they be as determined as many of the Arab states this year, for example?

No. In my OWN mind, i believe that YES the place is under an oppressive regieme.

The point i was raising was that we all (or a large number of people) appear to take on face value, second hand information that may or may not have been massaged to tell a certain amount of truth.

Remember, communist Russians all thought the west lived in poverty.

My post was more about the belief we place in media, rather than what I think is the truth. Images are a very powerful tool, and those amazingly shot (or would that be post produced) images of empty cities might not be what we believe them to be.

Just be wary, that is all i was saying.

Yes but from the few people that have visited or the accounts of previous citizens we know what the media is reporting is fairly accurate.

There is quite an irony i think, in some of these places we like to look down at as being oppressed.

We have people being locked up for stabbing intruders in their own home, rapists and murderers on the street, and rioters raiding shops for fresh kicks, and not loaves and fishes. I bet you can walk about the streets of Pyongyang at night and not worry about getting shanked for your smartphone eh.

... Rome burns, while we wring our hands about the NK's not being 'free'.
