Got my old wheels back on the car, so so much better than the old ones, so as you see it now is how it will be at the rolling road day or 99% the same :D

Looks a little high because of how it is parked, but im really happy with it now, just how i want it to look.

Went for the Yokohama Parada Spec 2s in the end as they were £100 cheaper than F1s and ill try them and judge for myself! Booked in for tracking tomorrow morning, then ive got to drive to Alton Towers this weekend slowly with the GF so after that they should be nicely broken in ;)

Prefer the old wheels if i'm honest.
:o  Your the only person who has said that, the other benefit is that the ride heights a little bit higher with the new wheels the others were slightly small and the speedo over-read.

Aye maybe its the picture but i much prefer the ride height/stance of the old wheels.

my new set of yoko parada 2s came today :) putting them on tomorrow morning. Had them on my deo for about 12 months over about 20k and they've been fantastic :)

Tom.

Nice mate I like that a lot. Are you able to tell me a bit more about the car? I always liked the look of these but never knew much about them, is it a turbo?

hmm i think my old tyres were slightly more dead than i thought lol

about half a mm from the wear marker! got me moneys worth out of those.

My fronts are WELL past the wear marker

Was all lined up to pick my new wheels up soon, but when I got home noticed one of my fronts is starting to go flat. There's a little hole in the centre of the tread

Might as well replace both fronts at the same time... but means I can't afford to get the new wheels now! ARGH!

O_o how much are your tyres? surely you could replace them both with cheapo ones for £60 for now just til you get the newens?

That's the plan :)

I'm going to see about getting some part worns for now. In a way, it's actually turned out ok because I don't really need new wheels, I just wanted them because they're available.

It's actually better if I get some crappy tyres for these to do me for a few months until I've saved up some money for nicer wheels and some decent tyres.

I know the picture of it on the new wheels isnt the best, was just a quick one after getting them fitted and running to check the pressures at the garage (which isnt the best thing to do either i know since their gauge will be wrong!)

Bit about the car, it started life as a Rover 220 GSI Natural Aspirated completely standard and then after a year or so i went to town on it, made some threads along the way describing what ive been up to.

Part 1. Bought some parts.

Involved a big road trip to the deep South.

Part 2. Changed the brakes and dashboard.

Dashboard has since been almost completed and a dash pocket put in place of the airbag blank on the passenger side.

Part 3. Swapped the engines over.

Ran into a few troubles they are all listed in the thread.

Part 4. Completed the engine change and some trouble shooting.

Part 5. First month with the new parts

And a quick breakdown of the car spec list:

British Racing Green 220 GSI Turbo Hatch.

Exterior:

17" MG straights with 205/40/17 Yokohama Parada Spec 2 tyres on all 4.
Laguna Front Splitter (solid type)

Interior:

Black Leather topped armrest
MK3 Bubble Dash
Mocal Black faced boost gauge.

Chassis:

Koni Yellow shocks with Pi springs
ZS 180 Front brake conversion
OMP Front Strut brace

Engine:

T16 Turbo Engine
Magnecor Leads
GBE mk2 boost controller set to just under 12psi
NASP Gearbox and diff (need to find a genuine turbo or 620ti gearbox to use as they have LSD)
Cone filter
Roverdose cold airbox
AP racing clutch (Good for 270bhp and 290lb/ft from memory so plenty of room for upgrades)
Roversport centre exhaust and decat
Mongoose backbox
Battery moved to boot

Waiting to be fitted:

Drilled and vented rear discs
Front fog lights

Back
Top Bottom
