New Porcupine Tree album teaser up

It is an AMAZING album. It is just the perfect nail-on-the-head blend of ambiance and metal. The album covers sums it up perfectly. Interesting lyrics and concepts behind it too.

I wasn't going to, but when I saw it sitting their in the "flac" format I knew I had to.

Still, the CD is coming shortly :D

I was really lucky and the company I ordered it from delivered it today. (Although its the wrong edition - so it's going back!)

But I'm absolutely in love with this album.

Have you seen the Roadrunner FOABP mini-siute? It's got an interview with SW talking all about the concept behind the album and how it's written from a 10 year olds perspective - great interview. I'm not really one to understand/question lyrics, but these ones really resonate for some reason.

This has to be in my top 5 fave albums of all time, and it's technically not even released yet! :)

This album is unbelievable and highly exceeded my wildest hopes.

I love every second of every track and that is VERY rare for me to think of an album.

I know it's easy to say all the tracks are great, being as they're all pretty much one track split into six anyway, but if you had to pick one preference of the six, which would it be?

Don't worry, the world won't think any less of you if you choose one instead of saying, "they're all great, no way could I choose." ;)

For me, hands down, "Anesthetize."

Anesthetize, DEFINATELY although the above poster is right, the album is truely supposed to be listened to as a whole. Although it's difficult to pick a favourite, the title track has the best lyrics, but then again My Ashes is also fantastic, argh it's impossible to choose :D

I've already listened it through 3 times tonight, once reading the lyrics. It's my favourite PT album and has beat In Absentia :o Never thought it'd happen.

I love the concept, and the music is the best PT has ever written imo.

I'm also very glad of the heavier sound :D The big riffing section in the middle of Anesthetize is just phenomenal :D

Me too man, my musical taste is very much on the heavier end of the spectrum and I only really got into PT's last few albums.

This album has brought PT from my weekly playlist into my daily playlist that's for sure.

I'm not particularly into 'Heavy' music (I like the occasional bit of Opeth and Meshuggah) but when PT do 'heavy' it's just groovy as hell and not there for the sake of it, like the riffs in Deadwing and Blackest Eyes, they're simple but just rockin' :D

The heavy section five minutes or so into Arriving Somewhere is a good example. Could quite happily sit and listen to it all day long! :D

Every listen is like a journey.

I couldn't get to sleep last night. It was 3am and I put this album on. There was something so enjoyable about just lying on my bed in the dark and listening to it.

Ansthetize just seems to blend the styles of hundreds of different bands in one song.

I shall. I've already warned work that I may be a little under the weather on Friday and I'll be coming in late  as I anticipate this gig will be a lot like all the others I attend at the Academy (which is what you get when you can have a beer just about anywhere you want!). I mean, I stopped drinking half an hour before the Iron Maiden gig and vast parts of it are still blank  I know I had fun though..... :D

Only just got my hands on the new album, so that's going on as soon as I get in tonight and it'll be on my phone before long so I've got enough time as possible to soak it all up before Thursday night!

I'm a massive prog fan but I came the route of ELP, Kansas, Yes, Grace, Dream Theater etc so I've missed out on Porcupine Tree.

Recommended listening?
