New R9 290X 8GB cards

Who would want to spend all the money needed to get a solid 60fps @4K and then output it to a TV.

If we are talking about turning settings down to get 60fps we may as well settle for 30fps on the TV.

980 doesnt have Hdmi 2.0 so it cant do 4K over 30fps?

"In addition, Maxwell is the world's first GPU architecture to support HDMI 2.0,
providing enough bandwidth to output 4K at 60Hz over HDMI.
And beyond 4K, Maxwell can output simultaneously to multiple ultra HD-resolution screens.
For gamers, that means three 4K G-SYNC panels in a Surround configuration,
commonly referred to as 12K, and a forth HDMI-powered screen for watching Twitch."
