** NEW SAMSUNG 750D & 950D True 120Hz LED Monitors - PRE-ORDER! **

I ordered my 750 on Friday so should be here tomorrow.

I have a mini DP port on my ATI 6970 and I have bought a Lindy Mini DP to DP adapter.
http://www.lindy.co.uk/mini-displayport-to-displayport-adapter-cable/41022.html ( Ihope that is OK to link to and sorry if not!!!

I assume the monitor will come with a DP lead?

And also will I get any any loss in performance by using an adapter like this or is it best to get a Mini DP to DP full cable (ie no adapter)

You'll be absolutely fine using that adaptor with the supplied DisplayPort cable and it will not degrade the performance in any way. All I'll say is if your S27A750D is anything like mine (and my GPU is similar) don't be afraid to fiddle with the settings to improve the picture. There seems to be a strong red bias and some gamma issues out-of-the-box but I'm sure you'll be able to find some settings you'll like if you aren't satisfied straight away.

So a dvi to display port wouldn't work?

anyone? :)

Nice to know they come with DP cables :D
What else is in the box?

That was answered in my reply yesterday. To clarify: there is no such thing as 'DVI to Display Port'. The conversion only works the other way around and only Apple's nice expensive adaptor would provide the benefits of DVI dual link bandwidth (i.e. 120Hz at 1080p) as most others (active or otherwise) convert to a DVI single link channel.

The important bits you get:

- The monitor itself with lots of plastic wrapping and a 'feature sticker' that leaves a bit of a mess on the screen (easily cleaned off)

- Warranty information

- SyncMaster branded active shutter glasses (labelled SSG-3100 but not sure if they are actually this exact model)

- 2 soft 'lens cleaner' (i.e. the things usually used for cleaning spectacles) cleaning clothes - one intended for the bezel and one for the glasses.

- TriDef driver CD with electronic manual

- DC power adaptor

Just to check, you do get a DP cable?

Thank you for clearing that up
What setting have you tweaked?

Yes - sorry the important bits listed were bits other than the DP cable. ;)

@crazymilk

I can't guarantee that they will all react the same way but basically don't be afraid to play with the MagicAngle settings and reduce the red level just a tad. Some of the MagicAngle settings will improve the gamma and contrast (some units may be acceptable by simply using 'gamma mode 3') if you are sat directly in front of the screen. Usually these settings all make things oddly dull or washed out due to extreme variation in gamma (and some do on this too) but they massively improved things on our unit.

AYE! I'm about to get this monitor, just want to clear one thing, there's no difference in quality between the two monitor right? aside from the fancy stand and extra DVI port of 950D. cos I like the look more of the 750D.

Theoretically, no. They may be set up slightly differently out of the box (the same applies to different units of the same model to some extent) but quality should be similar. The SA950 seems to suffer from greater excess backlight bleed-through due to the stand design, though - http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=20247276&postcount=932.

Whats this Tridef software that comes with these.

Is this just software to enable 3D? Other than using the monitors 2D>3D capabilities?

Exactly.

looking at getting a 750D but have an issue, my gfx card (6950) only has a mini displayport on it, whereas the monitor looks like it has full size display port, can I get an adaptor for it as I cant see any anywhere on the net and also will using an adaptor cause any issues?

Or is it possible to get a miniDP to DP cable?

cheers in advance
