** NEW SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7/G9 MONITORS 27-49" AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER **

Some users are now getting stutter, I cannot comment as do not have the monitor anymore and still would not put up with the other issues I mentioned above.

I will however try again with a G8 or whatever they call it as this screen was shown last Jan/Feb in one of the big tech shows just before the lock-downs so it was late to launch and is probably 1 year old tech and they will be improving it.

Also you cannot take for gospel what you read on Reddit, some claimed there monitor were flawless before.

I own the G7 32 latest firmware still hasnt solved the horizontal lines in certain oranges/blues or bright colours I don't notice it in games but on desktop or browsing the internet if I look hard enough it's usually at the top row of the screen I first noticed it with the my computer icon at the top of the screen if I move the icon towards the middle the lines goes away also I found if I set the screen to 144hz they would go away but with latest firmware if I have VBR enabled the lines stay even on 144hz

Have you tried lowering your Black Equalizer to 9 or 10 and Sharpness to 52 or lower? It did help me substantially, barely get any scanlines anymore. Black Equalizer at 9 also looks much more natural.

G9 arrived today. August model, nothing obviously wrong...hopefully nothing develops after a bit more use.

Can't get it to work at 240Hz but think that's a known issue with the 3080.

Going to take some getting used to gaming on it. Only tried Doom Eternal so far, as that's what I had ready to go. Noticeable fisheye.

The latest nvidia drivers fix the 240hz issue with a 3080.

Those with the g7 32, would you recommend it or is it plagued with problems?

Its a lovely monitor but yes it does have issues. I hung onto mine after the return window with the retailer I bought from and my thoughts are: immersive gameplay and the curve wasn't an issue for me after coming from a flat monitor. Smooth screen transitions and no ghosting as far as I can tell. Mine flickers in game loading menus but not whilst gaming so willing to overlook that at the moment, no poping at this time but I don't have the brightness very high. On the 1006 firmware just now, haven't tried the 1009 one. Bottom line if I decide its issues are too much I will contact Samsung within the year and get them to sort it.
Overall I'm happy enough with the monitor, I looked at other 32' screens and like this one they too have issues. So yes it's a roll of the dice but if your drawn to it go for it!

Hi, I already did that someone else suggested that before also if I go lower than 52 sharpness I feel the image starts getting blurry , maybe me being OCD but having cheaper screens and never coming across this feel shouldnt be the case with this

I've spent most of today using it and have had a solid 0 issues with it so far on latest firmware, no more flickering during loading screens at all and certainly no stutter on my one, cant comment on anyone else's of course. And I'm not taking anything on Reddit as gospel any more than you currently are. I do quite the opposite in fact and do my own testing. Also I'm assuming youre refering to startup time with the 5 second thing? I guess that personal taste but its never affected me. And I dont get a Gsync pop up unless I power down the monitor (I.e not standby)... but that's a given surely?

100% this. I've had mine since release too and seem to have had an easier time than some with regards to backlight bleed / flicker (though the new FW so far seems to fix that, jury is out on that one as to if there's any downsides or not though) But all in all I too am happy with my purchase. I came from a flat 27" and have really settled into the curve and size quite nicely.

I was not getting at you about the "gospel part" but can see your a little defensive. :)

My monitor and any i have owned since 2013 are instant when I press the power button (after being powered off, even in unplugged at wall), older ones well took a sec or two.

The G-Sync Pop up is caused by the fact they hide the "Deep Sleep" settings for the DP/HDMI connections (I can get same pop up re-enabling them on my monitor which is also a Samsung VA panel but not Samsung monitor).

Added to the fact I nearly forgot about the Res changing briefly on powering on moving all program windows around.

This fix seem more a band-aid IMO and time will tell what it disabled or causes but it is too late for me as no way I will buy another.

The latest nvidia drivers fix the 240hz issue with a 3080.

I have those (WD: Legion drivers), still just got a blank screen trying to put it to 240Hz :( Unless there was an update I missed.

Bought it for working on and my work laptop doesn't support the full resolution but 3840x1080 isn't too bad...

Had mine since release day.

Only issue was flickering in game menus but was fine in game

The latest 1009 firmware update has just fixed that for me :)

No regrets with buying it .

Hmmm - the nvidia hotfix https://nvidia.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/5099 fixed my 3080/240hz issue. I`ve since installed the geforce driver 457.09 and it still works.
I hope you don`t have another issue !

I am yet to hear back from Samsung ... its been 3 working days so tomorrow I should find out. Anyone know if the PS5 will be okay on the g9... will be like 2k x 1440 right possibly centered....

I received my refund from them today, so just waiting on it to come back in stock now. I plugged in my PS4 Pro and the image quality looked great. In the info section in the monitor's OSD it actually said it was running at 3840x2160 (which must be a mistake), but it honestly looked as sharp as my 4K monitor. The Odyssey won't be able to run the PS5 at 120hz, right? I'm not really sure on the limitations of HDMI 2.0. I think I'd only really be playing exclusive games anyway which would be limited to 60hz and saving stuff like COD for my PC since it's crossplay now.

Wow, thanks Dan, thats good to know its been kind off tested out and gives some hope.

Ok, returning my 2nd monitor - for four reasons:
1) Coil whine / buzzing coming out the back, near the onboard PSU. Not particularly loud, but can be heard in a quiet room when I have the brightness up. First monitor never had this.
2) When the monitor is in standby, I can hear a constant ticking noise near the PSU. Again this is not loud but does indicate some kind of issue.
3) Slight white screen flickering (full screen) when hovering the mouse over an active window, like an in game menu for example. Tried 4 different USB sticks - all formatted correctly - but the monitor will not recognize the latest (M-T9549GGAA-1006.2[BC89].img) firmware. Have tried 3rd party formatting tool.
4) Cracking/popping -this seems to come from two sources. One is the plastic as I can replicate the noise when, carefully, pinching the the back covering. The second comes from the power source. I ever had a "crack" approximately 2 hours after turning it off the other day.

I will carry on till I get a good unit, as I'm in love with this monitor. :)
