** NEW SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7/G9 MONITORS 27-49" AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER **

Will other monitors use g7/g9 panel? They are using lower end panels from samsung but it would be perfect if they use g7 panel and make it flat or 1800r curved. Maybe Samsung doesn't sell it?

Not sure if it’s at all relevant but the G9 suffered from these issues but they’ve since been resolved with updates to monitor firmware and drivers.

Interesting... I've read that after lots of driver updates that people have still had issues with the G7. I'm unlikely to get my 3080 for a while so no immediate rush to buy a new monitor. Still haven't seen anything else that compares for the money!

Yes, I think the autodisabling of shadowplay/instant replay came about from the 8k update. I don’t think shadowplay properly supports 5120x1440. If you want to record, you have to set the recording resolution to 1080p and it will capture a downscaled video (but still at 32:9). From reading around I think that’s what shadowplay may have done automatically before the 8k update.

Ah okay. It definitely recorded 5120x1440 in the past so an update must have broke it. 3840x1080 is fine for me, thanks. I'm not content creating or anything, I just send videos to friends occasionally which is usually compressed in the messaging apps anyway so it's not a big deal. Screenshots still save in full res which is good.

Hi all,

I am running on the latest firmware. Have Gsync on @ 240hz.

On the nvidia control panel > change resolution where you select the nvidia colour settings. I changed it from 8 bpcto 10bpc. Clicked apply. Whenever I restart my machine, a new output colour depth is automatically selected - 6 bpc and I have to reselect 10 bpc (and then 6 bpc option disappears). What is going on? Anyone know?

How can I sort this gap out without risking breaking anything?

That looks pretty bad :(

I'd personally go through the hassle of an RMA if I were you. Once you make an attempt to repair it yourself, you are risking voiding the warranty if you ever have to send it back to them if the same or any other issue arises in the future.

I'm not sending it back and risking getting another with missing pixels, although I can't say I relish the thought of insects getting in there during the summer, or a dust buildup.

It's not that visible from the front, only when you look down from the top. It just feels like the plastic trim somehow need fixing in place, but of course it's rigid when I press on it.

It's only the 500 squid model, so I don't mind buggering around with it a tad.

Not sure how I became resubbed to this thread, I gave up on this POS launch and so should anyone with defects esp. like above you are only rewarding Samsung for putting out poor QA and letting them know you will accept it.

I would send it back for sure as that going to annoy you all the time and will also knock the value right down when it comes time to sell it..

Only read same as I posted above so no clue, I was a 32" G7 owner so would be wanting another 1440p but with a Hardware G-Sync Module which IMO would solved the issues Samsung have with a lot of their monitors due to their Scalers.

They will probably call the above a G8 IMO.

Hi - can I ask all G9 owners, have all the main issues now been ironed out? I had one way back in July last year but returned it due to the seperation of the bezel issue and then after that there was the shortgages, recalls (or not recalled) etc etc so I am just wondering what the state of play is now with the G9 - have the QC issues been sorted?
Any outstanding or new problems?

Thanks!
