** NEW SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7/G9 MONITORS 27-49" AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER **

I have had my G9 for a week now and seem to have got lucky. There is little to no light bleed, no dead pixels and I can see no signs of scanlines.

I upgraded from a X34P so it wasnt a huge jump in size, but it is a big boy. The PbP is very useful for work (2 inputs) and being able to switch back to the large display for gaming is great.

The only thing I need now is a GPU that supports DSC so I can get 240hz going! 1080ti has no issues driving this thing in most games though.

Dan, you might just get lucky with the way things have turned out.

I've read of a couple of cases now where people who had scan line issues and received a replacement unit (manufactured in Jan 2021 or later) have reported the issue resolved. Fingers crossed, it will turn out that way for you too.

Well that's interesting, it's one of the complaints that I didn't think they'd ever be able to resolve. Where have you read this?

Apart from the issues which I've accepted, the only thing which annoys me is that I seem to have to turn off adaptive sync to get a proper 1:1 mapped 1440p image.
I'm on a 2080TI and using DSC @ 240hz, but if I want to run a game at 1440p (due to lack of ultrawide etc) then it always stretches the image unless I drop to 120Hz or disable gync/freesync through the monitor GUI.

I took delivery of a brand ne G9 this morning but it's sitting in the living room because I'm not sure I'll be keeping it. I've already arranged for it to be returned but it won't get picked up until next Tuesday so I'll have it sat here teasing me for a week. I'm in two minds in regards to what to do with it.

I'm currently on 2x 27" 1440p monitors a setup that works great. I primarily wanted the G9 for sim racing, otherwise it would mostly be used in PBP mode acting as 2x 27" monitors.

I decided to return it because well, it's a grand and I don't really need it. For a grand I could upgrade my PC quite nicely. I don't know what to do haha.

Could you measure the absolute width of the monitor please and let me know what it is ?
Sorry but can't right now as I stated the monitor was unopened when I filled in the return form. If I do decide to keep it, I'll measure it for you. I have seen some posts online saying the screen is around 115cm edge to edge. Screen size around 119cm but with the curve, it works out around 115cm.

I hope somebody will update you on the dimensions.

Thanks mate no problem. I'll wait and see if anyone else replies. Im pretty sure the online dimensions will be accurate but i need to make absolutely sure.

There you go @Cobra-UK!!!

So guys, should I unbox that G9 I have sitting in the living room or still stick to sending it back? I'm torn!!!

I would personally keep it. I got mine yesterday and I love it. I have gone from 2 28" 4k monitors to this and in all honesty. I prefer this.

For one, my 2 monitors were mismatched and cheap 4k's at that, so nothing to really write home about. Both 60hz, one with freesync, one with G-sync (showing changing GFX options over the years). As I am now on a 6800XT, the 240hz and Freesync Pro make it an easy choice. The additional HDR1000 is just a nice bonus as far as I am concerned.

I have no dead pixels and no other issues that I can see. Monitor guru's may well look at it and say there are problems, but to my eyes, it's all good.

I have, at the suggestion of another forum user, installed a tool called fancy zones, which allows you to segregate your screen, so you have organize multiple windows easily. If you are concerned about working with it, you could try it out on your existing monitors and see what you think. The PIP/PBP feature also works nicely, although it's only something I use if I have to use the iMac for work (which isn't very often).

I guess it's down to if you feel these things are an improvement over what you currently have. I have never been into racing sims, but I could imagine this would be an ideal monitor for it!

Thanks, I'll look into fancy zones. One question I have for everyone who owns a G9, say I want to run a game in 2560x1440 or 3440x1440, be it either via PBP or fancy zones, would I still be able to take advantage of at least 120hz (or 240) and GSYNC?

Double, triple check your g9 folks, I have gotten 3 monitors from an Indian competitor, and so far all have at least 1 dead pixel of at least 1 color. (1 with 2 bad pixels)

The standards of G9 QA is really shocking, here goes another I have to return.

Not something you expect after forking out over 1k for a top range monitor from Samsung. Do not keep it in the box after you got it waiting for build etc, test it immediately.
