** NEW SAMSUNG ODYSSEY G7/G9 MONITORS 27-49" AVAILABLE TO PRE-ORDER **

You have a got an absolute steal there for £550! I am sure it's fine, mine still does flicker sometimes, defo just a local dimming miss step, it seems to be a battle between the samsung firmware updates i do and the nvidia driver updates. I remember it being solved completely 6 months ago on one firmware update i did.

Its still got plenty of warranty left and I double checked with Samsung - warranty stays with the product, not the person who bought it.

Could you link me to where you saw this please, i've stuck my G9 on the MM and getting confirmation of this would be super helpful for the sale.

Also i've got the same model as you (which was a steal at £550!) and I don't get any screen flicker at all and never have on various firmware versions.

Hi All, I have looked several posts back but I am confused by all the model versions, from the recent posts it seems if I am buying new I should go for a model with SSR in the model number as this indicates it is a >= March 2021 version with a revised motherboard which resolves the scan line issues? assuming that is correct, then what is the difference between these LC49G93TSSRXXU and LC49G95TSSRXXU, from what I can gather they are for different regions, but both include the UK, so if I can get one cheaper than the other is there any reason why I wouldnt just go for the cheapest? Secondly on the support site for both these versions I only see firmware for the 95 version and not the 93 version, are the firmwares interchangable or does the 93 model not get the same level of firmware support as the 95?.

Thanks in advance and sorry if this is a repeated question.

I'm not sure about the 93 version but I have a LC49G95TSSUXEN and have always used the G95T firmwares to upgrade it even tho my model number isn't an exact match.

As for the scanlines, that is still a problem on the Neo's when running in 240hz mode and is one of the many fun problem it has. Personally I've always used my G9 in 120hz instead and it works perfectly.

I have the 93 version and have updated using firmware for the 95 version and it works fine, no issues. Even used firmware from Korean Samsung site and it works fine. In fact, the support page for my exact model number, has no firmware. So I have to use 95.

Someone posted this on reddit a while back and shows all the regions and codes. I notice on Samsungs UK site they now only sell 95 versions.

All the same screen, just different regions/markets.

LC49G93TSSUXEN - Europe / UK
LC49G94TSSUXZG - Germany
LC49G95TSSUXEN - Europe / UK / Switzerland
LC49G95TSSNXZA - US / Canada
LC49G95TSSCXXF - China
LC49G95TSSEXXY - Australia
LC49G95TSSMXCH - Netherlands
LC49G95TSSIXCI - Russia / Ukraine
LC49G95TSSMXUF - Turkey
LC49G95TSSLXZD - Brazil
LC49G95TSSLXZX - Mexico
LC49G95TSSKXKR - South Korea
LC49G95TSSEXXM - Malaysia
LC49G95TSSCXZW - Taiwan
LC49G95TSSEXXS - Singapore
LC49G95TSSEXXT - Thailand
LC49G95TSSEXXV - Vietnam
LC49G95TSSLXZS - Chile
LC49G95TSSMXUE - United Arab Emirates
LC49G95TSSMXZN - Levante
LC49G97TSSNXDC - US (Business)

Also, here is a link to a good summary of Neo issues, scanlines are still present on this latest monitor and its to do with the limitations of DP1.4a. We really need to just move onto DP2.0 with no compression. https://www.reddit.com/r/ultrawidem...fter_a_full_weekend_with_the_neo_g9/?sort=new

Thank you both for the useful information, I have an RTX 3090 FE (only because I got it from Scan at RRP, I wanted a 3080 or 3080Ti but just couldn't get them), but my CPU is only an i7 8700K, maybe running at 120Hz is the better option for me until I can upgrade the CPU?.

I run at 120Hz now just to be rid of scanlines in the corners. Running at 240Hz doesn't add any benefits to me personally as most the time i am not exceeding 120Hz, just a tad under it in MW, BFV etc. Spec is in my sig.

I asked on Samsung live chat.

My question was, If I buy a used monitor with warranty, does the warranty transfer over to me. Their answer was yes.

Can I ask those who have one of these what the black levels and contrast are like? I appreciate the Neo will be better due to its micro led stuff, but can't justify one of those to the other half!

I currently have a G34WQC, which has pretty decent contrast, so was wondering how these would compare.

I'm playing a lot of Elite Dangerous, and I'm finding that some of the dimmer stars "disappear" on the G34WQC when I move due to the black smearing.

It's not particularly noticeable in other games, and apart from this problem the G34QWQC has been pretty decent - I like the G34WQC's colour and contrast.

It's beginning to annoy me a bit now though, as its affecting the game I play the most. I know the G9 is also VA, but am hoping that its improvements/pixel response times might mean this sort of thing doesn't happen - again would really appreciate if anyone with one could comment on this. I expect the same would apply to any game with a dark star field.

Rtings is usually a good place to find this info.

Does anyone know how to roll back to the previous firmware version? I am on the latest 1012.1 but want to roll back to 1010.2. I tried renaming the 1010.2 firmware to 0000.0 and it finds the "update" and starts updating but on 16% it fails. Let me know if you know how to roll back guys. Thanks.

EDIT: Nvm, found a way to downgrade, only not to 1010.2 but to 1011.8 instead.

As someone yet to upgrade firmware I'm intrigued as to why you feel you need to?

It would seem to be a huge downgrade. High resolution, but lower refresh rate, slower response times, worse contrast, worthless HDR, etc.

I certainly wouldn't trade my 2020 G7 for the 2021 model.

I've been looking at getting a G9 monitor as they are £599 through the Samsung EPP portal.

Unless I'm mistaken, the differences between the G9 and the G95 are:

G9 has better brightness and contrast
G95 is 240hz over the G9 120hz (not fussed about that)
G95 has G-Sync, G9 only has Freesync premium
G95 has HDR10+, G9 only HDR1000?
G95 has much bigger curve 1000R over the G9 1800R
G95 1ms over G9 4ms

anything else?

Does anyone have the G9, worth it?

My G7 32 has just developed one stuck green pixel, damn. Had it for around 9 months and bought from Amazon. I know its only one but very annoying. Gonna get in touch with Amazon and see what they say.
