New SSD Boot Timer

Depends on what are you using it for. For a Laptop, a 128GB should be the minimum while for a desktop, for OS and some apps, a 60-64 GB will suffice provided you have a mechanical drive to store all your datas.

That's a pretty silly generalisation, it's completely subjective depending on an individuals usage. Many laptop users will only have an OS, Office and use web browser. I get by fine using a 30gb drive in my laptop yet I need at least 100GB for my desktop.

For you 30GB might be enough. For me, Windows 7, Office 2007 and COD4 install and updates is already almost 30 GB. Plus, I travel a lot, a week or two most of the times and I need space for Photos and Videos that I ussually take whenever I go places which needs some scratch areas for editing them. I've also got some music in there too. At the moment, i've got around 68.7 GB stuff in my lappy. The other extra space? well that's for wear levelling of the SSD nands. That's what I meant with "Depends on what you are using it for".:D

Time to logon : 23 sec

Time to Desktop : 56 sec

Not too shabby for a 640GB Black that has been running Windows 7 for a few months now.

How about some other old school mech drive times

Two samsung F3 500GB drives in Raid0 - Windows 7 install about 4 months

Pretty impressed with mine, had some mapped network drives and didn't realise how much they slowed down my boot and login time. Also the first time I ran it I also had Windows Updates - Fail. First one was 144seconds to desktop, but after taking off mapped drives and no longer having to restart for updates...

I think it was mainly the updates but yeah I expect it does to some degree. The thing with mine is that it's to a computer that is normally off so takes a while to search for it before deciding it's not there, unlike yours which may be connecting to an 'always on' PC in which case it can probably be found straight away in network discovery.

I just tried this prog on my 64gb C300 and 60GB Vertex 2E. Fresh installs of Win 7 64 nothing else installed or any settings changed..

C300
12 seconds to Logon
22 seconds to Desktop

Vertex 2E
10 seconds to Logon
18 seconds to Desktop.

Just tried it again on the Vertex
9 seconds to Logon
18 to Desktop..
