They aren't. There is a storewide sale with huge numbers of games reduced up till Jan 3rd. The five daily offers are icing on top of that. Most of the games I've bought, and am thinking of buying, are part of the XMax to jan3rd sale, not the daily offers.

Yeah, just at the time I wrote that, the previous one day offers were still at the same price.

There's also a nice trick using mklink in the command prompt which allows you to spread steam across multiple drives

yes it does that, although sometimes it bugs and doesn't work, hence why it;s best to test while you still have internet access.
