NEW STEAM DEALS!!!!

Can anybody recommend Zombie Driver?

Looks like it might be a laugh and for £1.74!

Yes.
I've found it good for short bursts of mindless fun, easily worth that price - I probably wouldn't spend much more on it.

If you've missed that price, check out Shadowgrounds for the same price.

Meh, bought Orange Box. Said that if it went on offer then i would.

Downloading HL2 now. Is HL2 a game itself on just the engine? Do i play HL2, then HL2 Ep1, then HL2 Ep2, or?

Think of HL2 as HL episode 0. It's a game with a big single player campaign, and Ep1 and Ep2 are smaller expansions.

Also you might want to add the HL2 Cinematic Mod

Doesn't change gameplay, just adds even nicer graphics.

Yes HL2 is a complete game....EP1 & EP2 are add on's
You play HL2 first then EP1 then EP2
(Hope you have also played Half-life 1 ;))

Half-Life 2 has sold over 4 million copies worldwide, and earned over 35 Game of the Year Awards. Episode One is the first in a series of games that reveal the aftermath of Half-Life 2 and launch a journey beyond City 17. Also features two multiplayer games. Half-Life 2 not required.
About the Game

Half-Life® 2: Episode Two is the second in a trilogy of new games created by Valve that extends the award-winning and best-selling Half-Life® adventure.

As Dr. Gordon Freeman, you were last seen exiting City 17 with Alyx Vance as the Citadel erupted amidst a storm of unknown proportions. In Episode Two, you must battle and race against Combine forces as you traverse the White Forest to deliver a crucial information packet stolen from the Citadel to an enclave of fellow resistance scientists.

Episode Two extends the award-winning Half-Life gameplay with unique weapons, vehicles, and newly-spawned creatures.

HL2 is the game, followed by Ep1 and Ep2. Source is what the engine is called.

Burnout Paradise: do a google on startup crashes in this game.
A lot of people can't get the game to work - like me, so I can't recommend it. Maybe you'll be lucky.

OK great, thanks. Will definitely get the Cinematic Mod.

Just though it was a bit weird as the download said it was only 800mb for HL2 :s

Never really had any interest in the HL franchise even though it is the base of a lot of good engines. Hopefully i will find out what i've been missing. ;)

Someone who doesnt have the orange box already!?:p

But yeah HL2 then the two episodes in terms of story. Though they (and portal/tf2) share some files so it makes the downloads a bit easier.

Its an absolute steal at that price.

EDIT: I type slow :(

I got Burnout for £3.75 last week from the EA Store.

I'm going to go for Prey, I've been wanting to play it for a while now and never got round to it so at £1.35 it's worth a buy.

Have you ever considered its your mouse or mouse settings?

I've had no problems with either Red Faction or Dead Space.

M.

Of course I've considered it. I've spent the last 20 years playing games with a mouse and (nowadays) more often than not I feel like a game has got the mouse support completely wrong. Then I query couple of my friends who are also very strict when it comes to GOOD mouse support and they always confirm my findings. Whenever I feel like I'm just imagining things, I fire up any HL1 engine game with -noforcemaccel and -noforcemparms and voi'la, it's literally perfect. For nearly perfect support you can launch any HL2 engine game. The controls are not as tight as HL1 engine games but still very good. Sadly nowadays I am in the minority (and most of those who agree with me only play the original CS anyway..) so there's really no hope in sight. Whenever a game dev decides to a) "improve" the mouse support or b) use gamepad support as a basis for the mouse support, the game is literally a lost cause. And it's happening more and more now.

The biggest hit of this year, MW2, has below average mouse support. I doubt many people complain about that but the mouse just doesn't feel exactly right. It's fine, but it's not perfect. Maybe part of the problem is the fact games are very complex and there are so many threads and what-not running causing small latency issues with input devices but that's really a problem for the developers, not for end-users like me.

Dead Space problems & solutions

Bought Dead Space but I'm going to buy a wired 360 controller before playing it because I can't seem to turn no matter how frantically I move the mouse (even on maximum sensitivity) while I'm walking/running. It's fine if I stand still, but I can't foresee myself enjoying the game as much if I have to stop moving to turn every few seconds. I didn't have this problem when I borrowed the PS3 version off a mate, so it definitely seems to be one of those games that plays better with a pad than KB/M.

For those with Dead Space problems, there are three solutions that I know of - the 3rd worked for me:

1) Disable VSync (this works especially well for people who find the menus very slow)

2) Remove any USB controllers not in use. (Maybe try removing non-essential USB devices of all types, if that doesn't work)

3) Edit a text file as described on this page:
http://forums.electronicarts.co.uk/...lay-game-possible-reolution-your-problem.html

Number 3 worked for me when using a mouse, and then when I got a gamepad, I had to restore it back to the default - so make a backup!

Edit: one other thing. Your character does move sluggishly to start off - he is meant to, since he is wearing a heavy suit. But you get suit improvements during the game which make you faster and more manoeuvrable.
