New summer transfer thread

carragher>dawson>taylor>king
Other than King being injury prone he currently pees all over Taylor. They are different sorts of players though, Taylor is basically a younger version of Dawson ie a strong commited defender who loves putting his body in the way. King is a different kettle of fish, yes he has strength but he is also fairly quick and is top notch technically and mentally. In a couple of years I can see Taylor being more complete and out powering King but not yet.

EPL ******* about again, Tevez won't complete his move today meaning he might not be registered in time for Reading, and doesn't look likely to play tomorrow.
He should be able to play in friendlies even without his registration and wouldn't it have been unlikely for him to feature vs Reading anyway as he's only just come back from his holiday?

Maybe we can borrow the red phone with the one dial button from the offices at Anfield that goes straight to the big wigs at F.A. and Premier League headquarters?
lol only if you give us Heinze :p

You'll have to check the phone first, I heard the dial button has been worn out. :p

Another day passes and no announcments from the Boro on players coming in after letting a top talent go :(

Very different defenders.

Carragher is in the Dawson & Taylor mould. A balls to the wall get anything in the way of that ball and stop it going goalwards type.

King is faster, more agile and just more of a footballer than the others, hence him being used in midfield a few times. Very rarely do you see King need to foul another player, he really is quick.

Maybe not as all round solid as Carragher though and not as good in the air.

Happy with all of Big Sams transfers at the moment, really excited about the future. :)

Just of topic for a mo, why hasnt Steven Taylor been mentioned as a candidate for England, with the injury situation?

I dont believe he is ready for a full call up to the england squad but in the near future for sure and if this cacapa is pretty good he can definitely learn a thing or two from him a damn site more than he did from bramble and boumsong :o :p

I also hope its third time lucky for us with the jose enrique signing the other 2 spanish signing didnt do too great but i have confidence under big sam he will be good .

would be very surprised if tevez wasn't registered for the weekend, premier league were waiting for money to clear to west ham so apparently they only began looking this morning at paperwork this morning. why they couldn't have been doing that over the weekend in anticipation of this is beyond me, but still as this move has a precedent set by mascherano i can't see there being anymore probs.

Darren Fletcher seems to be the 100th player to be linked with us as well as Jan Koller. Can't see Koller coming to us due to his age but it won't stop the ever so reliable SSN linking us.

As for Fletcher, not sure how far down the pecking order he's gone now at Man Utd. Rumours are we are going to test the waters with a £4m bid. Think he'd be a more then a useful player for us. Have any of the Man Utd fans heard anything?

not heard anything, but £4m for Fletcher?, he's more useful than Richardson was and we shifted him for 5.5m lol

Would like to see Fletcher at the Riverside for the right-price, Would be useful on the right-side (giving more attacking options than cattermole, and not limiting the effect of Tuncay) and in the centre (when we get the inevitable injuries)

Jan Koller would have been a good signing 5/6 years ago but not now hes 34 for gods sake !

Wouldn't mind Mido or Samaras for the right price as well both would add much needed depth to the squad, Govou and Appiah would both be welcome :p

Baines has gone, big loss to Wigan but hey Whelan loves make money, £6 million in his bank account

Yeah thats two players this summer Everton have signed that they let go in the youth system.

I read talk in the times today of signing an 11 million pound midfielder. **** that if there was 11 million going why the hell not buy smith or nugent we have no options upfront :(

Yeah the last thing we need.

Anichebe and Johnson up top. Why sell beattie if he hasnt got a striker in mind. I dont like Johnson and sadly Vaughan is injured.
