New system for my lad

Been thinking today ,

1. Is there a best monitor cable to connect to card ? As have not opened card yet , as waiting on ram arriving this afternoon !

2. My lad wants to use his ps 5 controller on his rig , is this best just don’t with a usb connection , or do I need a usb Bluetooth dongle ?

3 . Getting a bit nervous now :-/ one delivery away

4 does the PS come with a kettle lead , as again not opened it either , but if it does not is there a best one to buy

Thank you in advance

Display port

Use a wired connection as some games don’t support the ps5 controller wirelessly

PSU will come with the kettle lead
Cheers Ben , thanks for the answer ,

We are beginning the build this evening as ram just arrived , and a thought crossed my mind , is there any restrictions on types of screw drivers I should not use , ie magnetic type ?

magnetic screwdriver is fine, never done me any harm anyway, only helped
don't worry, just enjoy doing the build with your Son, it's a lovely evening for it,
make sure you don't put too many motherboard standoffs into the case, only what you need. line up the motherboard with the holes in the case to make sure you are putting them in the correct place, or some cases have it written on there where to put standoffs for different sized motherboards
You'll be fine!
Thanks pal , thought it was worth an ask, as memory ain’t what it used to be ;)

Also one other thing is , if anyone has any experience of the phantom spirit cooler , do they know which way the fans should be orientated , looked online but a common question not seen an answer ? Ie which way logos go , and should I utilise sync with y cables ,

Well got the easy stuff done , the boys interest Wained after an hour of helping ,

So got the ssd, ram , cpu , ps , mounting for the cooler , and mb popped in, nearly crapped a brick when I clocked all the cables from the case , and the plethora of cables with ps …

I explained to my now impatient son , I may need to take a little longer tomorrow .

Definitely more cables than I recall ever having to deal with … ho hum

Well could not sleep last night , so got up at four am , read the manuals , got most of the case connectors done , front panel header a bit fiddly and look like both power button and reset link to grnd pin as we’re both doubles , but listed in manual as single , is that right .

Also notes that of the aero cool mini , the smart hub had both , addressable rgb 3 pin and standard RGb 4 pin , assume the latter is just left unconnected , as went into the argb header 3 (there was a 1 and 2 ) as this was neater for the run ? Will that be ok, or should I have went to 1 ?

Another thing from the case smart hub was a dimm type sata cable , can’t see anything about that on the literature with the case ? Nor in the asrock book? Should this be connected ?

So now just got to put in , the graphics card and the cooler and then run power , I think I’m getting there now ?

Does this sound ok thus far ?

Came back a bit early today , to push on a bit , and now a little confused how the Zotac 4070 connects to the psu , it comes with a power cable that splits into two 8 pins , but nothing in the psu bundle that seems to fit right

Got the tug gaming 850w gold ,

Worked it out the was a 2x6+2 x 2 connector which worked looks the 2 x2 were the grnd s .

I have figured this out thanks all, .

Another question , sorry…

The riptide b650mpg board has both a cpu power pick up and a large atx power connector pick up back to psu , would I need both of these connected ! Can’t seem to find this out in literature ?

What PSU did you go for?

The 40 series has a different connecter to previous GPUs, where has before they used 2 x 8 pins or more the new ones have 1 connecter.

Have you checked the gpu box for an adaptor? my 4070Ti came with 1 that allowed me to convert 2 x 8 pin in to 1 x 40 series connecter
Posted below , ASUs tug gaming 850 gold

Re the big ATX POWER SUPPLY , would I need to power this and the cpu port as marked in attached image ?

I’ve apparently reached the new user daily limit , not sure if it will work yet, but BIG THANKS to Gray and Ben and threepwood , tetras and Freddie . Basically all of you that have helped me .

It looks like you're still using the adapter for the graphics card, it doesn't really matter (I wouldn't bother untangling everything), but you didn't need to do that.

Nice lookin' build though, by the way :D
Oh , I see both yourself and Freddie have mentioned this , it is a bit cumbersome , but I did not see a matching cable , but will check that tomorrow , as would be better if I did not need that.

Well got the usb boot ready, so will probably try and fire it up tomorrow . Once I have it set up in the wee ones room .

Don't use the adapter cable that came with the GPU. You have a dedicated cable that comes with the PSU, as seen in this video and will be so much neater.

So remove this and there is a corresponding cable in the 850 kit already ? Ok will look again tomorrow when time permits , as would be nicer without that large splitter type cable

Oh and also , if anyone has this board , what is the enter bios command on boot , it has been a while ,

My wife had to goto the shop yesterday , and get me a crappy integral usb key , for window boot to load onto , hoping it all works now .

Any recommendations on what led light controller system to use , ie mystic etc ?

Well just came home and switched it on, nothing has really lit up yet apart from the mother board light which is slowly pulsing , no fan spin yet no fan light ?

Appreciate you said it might take a while to come to life gray , so sitting watching
