New Test Drive Unlimited Screens

woot, mines done! Will post some details about it in er a few mins, give or take an hour :p

My mini 3minute review:

Had a choice of 3 cars:
Shelby GT500
Gallardo
and something else I cannot remember.

The demo has no AA. Frame rate is nice and smooth and car handling feels very similar to PGR3 as I hit a tree in 10secs, then did uncontrollable 360's. I like it already :)

Edit1: Just had a quick time trail race with no opposition. Nothing special there. Currently being chased by the cops, and it feels quite similar to NFS:Most Wanted in that respect. Mine just quit, I think it has an ingame timer...

No AA???????????

I will be sorley dissapointed if its released without AA :(

The demo does state it is work in progress and isn't a reflection on the final product. There could be some AA there, but on my 20" tft I can see jaggies, very much like PGR3.

I think a lot of peeps will be hugely impressed by the demo. I've just paused the game and can see a 'Demo Timer' countdown at the top which is at 7mins atm. I think the demo could be limited to 10mins of play before quitting.

13 minutes offline play before the demo kicks you out.

You can go straight back in tho :)

Rather than driving to al lthe time trials and races if you go to map and highlight race etc with your gps you can go straight there or have option of driving with the gps giving you voice directions.

Its very lifelike.

Very impressed with the demo

don't like it, seems very simplistic to me, don't like the handling either, typical test drive game, looks nice plays average, would pick this up as 2nd hand game but not full price

Same here.....Not moved from 6% for the past 30 mins :(

if you cancel the download and restart it you will find it has actualy done more than it says on the screen. I restared it 3 times and each time it went up 10-15%

Whats simplistic about it theres a hell of a lot of detail in the game already and it isnt ready until september

no need for the rolls eyes m8, just becasue i don't agree with you. Game is also unrealistic yet trys to be all sim like IMO, also there is the usual crashing into cars and going off road instead of racing in the multiplayer races.

As with all test drive games, details ingame are usually good with nice high res cars and scenery but the driving side lets it down

Oh the irony... after about 10 ish minutes I wanted to see how much the demo had downloaded so I canceled then resumed... 56% great. Now its downloading like a dog and after a further 50 minutes I'm at 68% :(

Ok so I thought there must be something wrong so I canceled again, deleted the file and started from scratch... the demo then proceded to download at an unsteady 1.3k/s  By the time my xbox switched off in the early hours it had only downloaded 65%. Just resumed it now and I'm still at 1.3k/s

Yep demo has frequent lock-ups here, first impressions are its a bit simplistic on the car physics and still PGR3 rules for the feel of cars and speed, it has potential, but they will deffo need to sort the lock-ups out, and would like to see much more PGR3 style car physics, which I doubt will be done.
Pity about the lack of in game AA too, in terms of graphics I would say its between GTA3 and PGR3.

As it stands ATM I agree with McManicMan, I wouldnt be tempted to pay full price for it unless they change the physics for the final release, but would be tempted to get it if it was cheaper.

I feel the perfect driving game would be the freedom etc of test drive paired with the towns/city's, physics handling and graphics of PGR3 but with 4xAA :)

How can you see the download speed LordRobs ?

Apparently if you don't sign into Live, or if you disconnect your network cable, the lockups will disappear (but you can only play offline obviously).

Yeah, that does work. Shame about the 15 minute timer though :|

I like the game, it's not as horrendous as I'd imagined it would be, if they tighten up the physics just a touch then it'll fly off the shelves, having said that, I'm still definately going to buy it.
