New Top Gear (2011) BBC 2 8PM!

It seems Jonathan Ross spoiled the whole programme for me, because reading this thread reminded me how much I loved the cold war graveyard and watching them repeatedly understeer the Yugo across the road :p

We all know that, but it misses the point: which was the way that Clarkson for so biased for the Ford that he didn't mention it. Or say much about how much faster the scoob was around the track given how he'd intimated that the Ford had the better handling. I'm used to a little personal opinion, but it was so biased I thought that I'd accidentally tuned into Fifth Gear. That said, I've heard Clarkson say at least twice in other shows that AWD cars are slower to launch than RWD cars.

Every review I have read of the Impreza Cosworth has been disappointing though, so it may be quick, but it appears to be a bit of a let down when it comes to the actual drive.

would have liked to have seen more of that

I want to find out where they are & go sit in a cockpit & make dog fights sounds. :D
I reckon a WW2 tour of a few beaches & bunkers & then a tour of a few cold war sites would be an Epic man adventure holiday. Be relatively cheap as well.

It's a 400bhp hatchback that went around the TG track a tiny fraction of a second slower than a 911 GT3 - what exactly were these critics expecting? Or is it like the normal version: a car that never feels as capable as it turns out it actually is?

Speaking with people at Uni today and they either liked the first two episodes but didn't like last nights, or didn't like the first two and liked last nights episode.

I've enjoyed all three! :D

We need an OcUK trip!

Worst episode of Top Gear I've ever seen, I think the only bit I found entertaining was when Clarkson tried to 'fix' the door. Awful episode, dreadful.

I'm glad this is a discussion forum because I simply could not disagree with your post any more than I currently do :).

Jake Humphrey has dropped a hint on twitter that Brundle and Coulthard had been/would be visiting Top Gear - and then deleted the tweet.

Could make an interesting SIARPC :)

Always interesting to see (ex)-F1 drivers doing a lap in the old Liana (if the Liana(s) are still working)

Judging by what he said (and in some case didn't) he just seemed to be finding any excuse to not like the scoob. And he was almost certainly lying about the power band anyway: unless the car has very silly gearing as well as a big turbo, it will happily accelerate at 60mph in fifth. Not in sixth, but in fifth it will. I also liked the way he glossed over how badly the Ford lost the drag race. And was it me, or did he mention the power of the Volvo and the Ford, but not the Subaru? Because it happens to be rather more than the Ford and about the same as the Volvo.

we've been here before. And not just with the VXR.

Top Gear will happily lie, stretch truths, modify cars etc.. so as to make a point for entertainment.

The CS400 has had a bit of battering in the press, nobody has really liked it, the Focus RS hasn't. The press love it.

The criticism of the CS400 usually entails rabbiting on about steering feel and and about the steering light and wayward etc.. Most people would switch off at this point so they've resorted to making broad sweeping generalisations / lieing to get the point across that it hasn't really worked.

Likewise with the Focus RS, having to say its faster than an M5 to get across in laymans terms that its a good car.

To be fair, the Focus RS lost the drag race badly because it wasnt 4wd like the other two so it took a big battering off the line.

That's what I was thinking. The wet conditions really put it at a disadvantage. In the dry I think the drag would have been a lot closer
