New version of Xbox 360 coming in August with less heat and noise

I like my xbox and im not one for complaining about it, however i must admit it is indeed bloody noisy. Its noisier than my pc sat beside it.

How you even came to make this comparison is beyond me.

Mechanical vehicles and electronic entertainment gadgets have a completely different set of requirements IMO. In fact most car enthusiasts I know love loud cars, makes them feel more manly.

Then the difference is either: -

a.) Your Xbox 360 is miles quieter than mine and I want one like yours.
b.) Your Z5500s distribute sound much better than the built-in TV speakers I use.

Bizarre! None of my three Xbox's (one launch day console, one purchased about a year ago and one other purchased a few weeks ago) make excessive noise. They all make a bit of noise but it's drowned out once the game kicks in (at low volume).
 
Pfft, I haven't experienced any noise problems with the 360. Both me and my cousin have launch 360's and neither of them make very much noise at all, you can barely hear it.

It could be that I just notice it more. I am primarily a PC gamer and built my PCs silent.

Going from my rigs to an Xbox 360 was a shock to the system when it came to noise, and that's putting it quite gently. When you're used to spending £15+ on a specially engineered 120mm fan, and that being pretty much the only fan in your machine, you develop a critical ear when it comes to noisy electronics.
 
My new Xbox360 is louder than my last one.

My 120mm fans to keep my PC were £25 too, my PC used to be quiet (it's really not anymore with a Titan Amanda or 6800 Ultra GPU).

I don't doubt the Xbox360 makes noise, but I do doubt your claim you have to keep the neighbours up.
 
Always thought the 360 was loud from the day I got one on release. However, since getting a PS3 its now like ...

WWHHHHHIIIIIIRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR !!!ONEONE11!!

If ol' Bill could get my beloved 360 running as quiet as the PS3 I would personally go and camp outside Microsoft's American HQ holding a big sign telling the American evengelicals to stop praying to their false God and start paying homage to Bill !

I loves my 360, just wish it didnt sound like a whailing banshee. And curse the damn PS3 for making that fact worse ! :D

Ditto, I just got my PS3 a couple of weeks ago and haven't used my 360 since then, but playing the GRID demo put me in the mood for a racing game. I don't currently own one on PS3 so fired up the 360 and PGR4 and turned it off again after around 2 mins as the noise just drove me insane!

I can't see myself playing my 360 again due to the noise even if it means missing out on great games :(

doesnt change the fact that your just moanin and your neighbours need a slap. What im saying is each to their own m8 but surely the positives outweigh the negatives. And if you really want to just get you firmware changed for 4x read instead of 12x and you'll get longer load times and silence. And GTA wont work

If I was just moaning then it wouldn't be my only complaint about the console, would it. :rolleyes:

And my neighbours don't need a slap, they need sleep. They happen to be very hardworking.

Like I said, it's the only thing I don't like about the console. But it's a big problem for me.
