Newcastle takeover???

I believe this as already been taken to court in France with Bein getting massive fines.

I believe the deal is worth 500m from Bein. So they are basically trying to blackmail.

I very much doubt the PL would want a long legal battle with PIF. It's a battle they will not win as there is no clear reason to stop the deal.

Not 100% sure trying to type on phone and not get caught by my boss lol.

I believe there was a very big case in France BeIN Vs Arabsat and he didn't end very well for BeIN.

What ever happens this is pretty fascinating!!!

Only Newcastle could cause this much fuss over a takeover lol.

Government just confirm that they won't get involved in the Newcastle takeover.

1 hurdle cleared.

Already strong rumours floating about from Saudi that it's already been passed just preparing the announcement.

Just been doing a lot of browsing and seems the PL owners test only looks into Crimes such as money laundering and fraud etc....... I think!!

This thread is funny, Newcastle fan's absolutely desperate for the deal to go through despite it being Saudi's buying them, fan's of other teams hopeful for the deal to fall through and throwing "Saudi Arabia is the devil incarnate" accusations around and choosing to ignore some misgivings of their own owners.

One things for certain is that football sold it's soul many moons ago and it's almost laughable that the PL (who's proven to be more interested in money above everything else) wouldn't want the investment the Saudi's would bring.
It's brilliant lol people love climbing up on that high horse when something happens that doesn't suit their agenda.

No but I find it amusing that the biggest back lash has came from BeIN sports the sporting media arm from Qatar. Who have quite a few issues themselves. A country who is part of the corruption in football at the highest level and every single club in the premiership is getting money from.

So yeh I guess sportwashing does work when you have people like Keys the face of beIN telling me how I should feel or act.....

It's bloody amazing tho that this will come down to money and not the Human rights issues.

Qatar Vs Saudi's is much deeper than simple issues over TV.

I still think it will go through as Arabsat has been in court multiple times and have been rewarded unprecedented compensation. I think it's a battle they don't want to take on since it's been cleared multiple times in courts.

Also I believe BeIn is only 10% of the PL income. Who's knows how much money this deal could bring into the premiership. You just have to look at the French league with the Qatar involvement.

So how do
You should really stop taking Arabsat statements as fact - they're nothing more than propeganda. Arabsat only avoided paying damages to beIN because beIN couldn't demonstrate lost earnings, the court found that Arabsat were broadcasting beoutQ. Fwiw beIN sport also claimed victory in the court cases too. Courts, FIFA and numerous top PL Leagues have found that Arabsat were broadcasting beoutQ and released a joint statement stating as much.
Main point being how does the PL prove loss of earnings in court when it's failed multiple times already?

Also Arabsat is not a state owned business. It's owned by a few countries in the gulf. Qatar being one of them.

Also it's not part of the ownership tests.

Thank you for clearing that up I'm no expert.

Now how do you go about proving PIF is linked to Arabsat and that they had involvement in the piracy?

From my understanding the PIF is well regarded with investments in major companies around the world.

Only Newcastle could make a takeover this messy lol.

Grey Dyke ex FA chairman expects the deal to go through despite BeIN interference. The Times

The journalist who broke the story (Jason Burt) has sources close to the deal says the PL has been in contact and various questions have been past back and forth with no flags raised so far. Announcement could be days away. He was the one that reported the PIF was in for the club months ago and also broke the story that a deal was agreed.

Soooo deal or no deal!!!!???

I'm going deal.

PL are grubby gits and probably can't wait to see Saudi cash flow into the premiership.

Henry Winter.
"Everybody expecting #NUFCTakeover to be waved through. Several Premier League clubs still voicing concern over Saudi involvement, though. Ethics, broadcast deals, but also self-interest - fears of the threat of a well-funded, newly ambitious #nufc.

that's the issue for some clubs, self-interest, TX. Be surprised if it got in the way of the takeover, though. PL wants competition, new money, new stories etc. Stay safe"

Lol CANS lads!!!

So which clubs are crying??

At the end of the day it's not a vote. Yes they can object but are they going to mount legal action themselves?

Seems the PL are going to avoid any political or legal issues and past the deal. Like Henry tweeted they probably want this deal themselves even if BeIN is throwing the toys out of the pram.

Bigpig you realise that the clubs are the PL, right? And you might be surprised to hear but the clubs do vote on any major decisions the League takes, requiring 14 votes in favour for something to pass. Whether this decision ultimately goes down to a vote by the clubs remains to be seen and will depend on just how strong the objections are from certain clubs, however even if it were to, clubs that don't want the takeover to happen may vote in favour of the deal if they fear the legal action that will follow.
Yes I do but when has there ever been a vote on an owner?

Do you really think they are going to call an emergency meeting? It's would take a massive backlash from nearly all the club's to make a case.

Yes I 100% believe clubs are raising concerns but they will leave it at that.

Also there is still FFP to contend with.

There most certainly will be legal action from PIF and Mike. It's has cost both sides millions to get to this stage. (not including the deposit).

This deal will be accepted or failed purely on the owners test or stoped by the government. That's my opinion.

All signs comming from sources seem to think they will go through but who knows.

We are already into the 3rd week of the tests which should be the final stages we shouldn't have to much longer to wait.

No I'm not getting it.

So are you telling me if a potential new owner or director pass the the Ownership and directors test set out in the premiership handbook which the government made them improve that the clubs can still veto the deal??

Sounds like BS to me.

The rules and regulations have already been voted and approved by all 20 clubs

very much doubt that clubs have a ruling say on ownership. Yes on major deals and rules but it would have to be an independent board investigating and ruling on the ownership test they also have to abide by the law and if they do have the power I very much doubt they will block it they were pretty much spilt and didn't want the ownership test getting harder when Southampton was getting a new owner.

I just leave it at that no more talk out of me about the law or ownership test or satailite pirates!!

A side note!!!!!
Martin Samuel: “No club has the right to reside among the elite but Newcastle have been in the doldrums for too long. It needs owners with the imagination to realise potential and maybe this new consortium will do that.” #nufc

Mike Ashley favourite journalist and his go to man.

After all the letters and clickbait articles yesterday morning there seems to be a mood in the air that this deal will indeed go through.

I thank you for all the information it's been very interesting reading.

You already have me looking at the league table for allies lol

I believe the deal won't be blocked. To much money to much hassle.

I'm so very much looking forward to a full on melt down by Keys if people are correct that this is already a done deal. We find out soon.

The Saudi minister of sport has started to follow NUFC on tweeter!!!!! Yes I'm clutching at straws lol

As expected Kev has been asked to come in from the cold with an Ambassador role. There were reports last week that they were reaching out to club legends to try and build bridges that were destroyed by Mike.

Number 2 on the list has to change Number 9 back to Shearer's. I always made a point to go there when I flew into the city for a game. The other half also enjoyed the cocktails there lol

Keys at it again. Saying that the new chairman of the PL is a good mate and he will be speaking to him about this take over.

The state of some of our fans on Twitter acting as if the people protesting the takeover are doing it because it’s Newcastle.

Can’t we just buy the league without being self-absorbed *****.
yeah dirt bags but that's just social media. Like I get the issues but but I'm just not interested or intend to jump up on my high horse. Just ignore and move on.
Most people are happy getting goods and money from these countries just as long as it not in the spotlight.

Out of sight out of mind!!!

People have been plane watching and Mike Ashley plane landed in the states last night and is due back into the UK tonight.

Again clutching at straws lol

Exclusive: Saudi Arabia set to compete for Premier League TV rights & end issue of piracy in country should NUFC takeover gain approval. Sources suspect beIN Sports opposition to Saudi ownership is motivated by fear of losing their own PL TV deal in region..

Lol no wonder Keys is going ape.

potential conflict of interest?
Not sure and who knows. The PIF recently purchased a large events company but I'm not sure if it's them behind the the TV rights rumours.

Think it's all part of feud between BeIN and Arabsat so they probably be after the PL rights for the Gulf.
