next card please

if your on a low budget or want something to tide you over till dx10 is out then get the bfg 7600gt on this week only for £88 inc vat! thats an amazing price

x1950 matches the 7950 GX2, who needs 2x GPU's eh, and 2x of em in Xfire beats quad SLi. ;)

Id agree with the above x1900 XT 512mb at £205 all in, cracking price for a stonking card.

Been reading the register have we? lol

The 7950 GX2 is cheaper and again its one in one game and the other.

So an x 1950 will get me 18500 3d marks in 05?

Plus you dont need a 1000 w psu either.

I never said that the 7900 GTX wasn't showing its age either. In fact I never mentioned the 7900 GTX
I was just using the 7900GTX as an example, because there's no way the X1900 series can be considered old tech yet.

I said try to stretch to a 7950 GX2,He has a budget of 300 hence the term "stretch" and 7950's can be add for 354 inc.
Unfortunately, some of us don't have a mummy or daddy who will fork over their credit card whenever we want something and have to pay for our stuff. To some of us, almost 1/4 extra is more than "a stretch" when someone says they have a budget of £300.

Hmm missed the Vat and the fact that they will only have 256mb ram on that model ;)

Is it?
Since benchmarks show that there is no difference between 512MB and 256MB RAM even up to 2048x1036 with antialiasing on, I will just say that's a moot point.

The bottom line is that the 7950GX2 is 1/4 over budget, why you think it makes sense to suggest a card that's almost £400 when his budget is £300 is beyond me. As for th X1950XT, as I said, 256MB is more than enough video memory and will be for some time (especially considering that the X1950s use GDDR4), and Gibbo has stated that a single one will almost be able to keep up with the 7950GX2.

So, X1950XT or X1900XT in the bag.

;)

I hovered over the link and saw Daily tech!

didnt click on it!

lol :D
Since when is Dailytech not a reputable news source? It's run by the same folks who run Anandtech.

I hope you're just confused with The Inquirer or something.

Those benchmarks look quite promising too, and correspond with what Gibbo himself said about a single X1950 coming close to 7950GX2 performance.

:D

Speculation....

Close is not beating it and the x1950 will cost more...

Gibbo said that the X1950XT will cost £275 and will be close to 7950GX2 performance, and he's not known for pulling random nonsense out of his bum like certain people I could name.

Last time I checked, the 7950GX2 costs nearly £100 more and has inferior image quality, so the X1950 will be an utter killer at that price. As for speculation; If you want to tell Gibbo he is wrong and argue with him about this then go ahead because I would love to see a curbstomp like that.

Since when did you care about something being more expensive anyway? According to you, paying £400 instead of £300 is "a stretch."

insults dont get you anywhere. The fact that you state this make me beleive you are insecure and do not have the abilty to respond to valid input in post's.

I now question your age and integrity.

hmm is it?

do a google you even need 512mb to run doom 3 on ultra settings. And the extra ram pulls ahead at higher res.

Not biting on this one.Read the post again.

dude, id wait till end august/early sept when the x1950s come out, the x1900s will be at an ultra bargin price, i traded my gx2 for a 1900 crossfire setup and it was well worth it for me. Extra performance at no cost :D

http://forums.overclockers.co.uk/showpost.php?p=7630496&postcount=1080

performance difference from the 2.

also my temps have shot down too :O

cpu temps 35 idle
board temps 36

with the gx2

42
41

i suppose mainly cause the heat is exhausted.

Translation: Yes, it was pretty stupid of me to call almost £400 "a stretch" over £300, and realise the error of my ways, but rather than admit it I will simply pretend you didn't make a point at all.

Translation: I simply cannot debate against someone who provides evidence and since Gibbo himself said it, I think that I will just bow out of this part before I bite off more than I can chew.

You do? I thought it ran absolutely fine on a 256mb card.
It does, he's talking out of his arse to make the X1950XT sound worse than Gibbo has said that it is just because it has less memory. Let's just forget that 256MB performs just as well and that it's using brand new GDDR4, these facts obviously don't matter in Easyrider's world.

you know when people have lots the plot when they tell you that a 1900 is old hat. easrider you are so far out there that you forget people are running on much MUCH lesser hardware. you can not in any way say that ati's top card is old hat. Everything is old hat except a 7950? give over. take a step back mate, i think you've lost grip on reality there somewhat.

LOL? That was me speculating how you could possibly think that £400 was only "a stretch" for someone who clearly stated that his budget is £300. I don't know anybody who would say such a thing unless they were leeching off their parents or social security or something.

Either way, what you said was stupid, and I'm sure that I'm not alone in thinking so. I can see that you're trying to get away from this thread now that others have noticed you, so I'll let you go in peace.

Lost the plot?

no,

Its just like the impending doom of the price cuts before the new stuff comes.

A64 3700's at 60 quid x1900's at 205 quid.

In technology terms its old.

we all know that 3 months is a long time in pc hardware.

That was my point.
