And what about Shader Model 3.0 and HDR? Is there a noticeable difference in games which use these features over SM2.0 / Bloom?

Both the X1800 series and X1900 series support shader model 3.0 and HDR, I wouldn't worry about that.

It was a true and proper mission just to get the HDD from the original Xbox working in a PC, and all the connectors etc were the same, I doubt it'd be an easy task!

Yup course they will, will last a good while after the R600/G80 come out, all the R600/G80 are gona have is Vista, gona be a long while before theres even a handfull of DX10 games etc... out, and as i said by that time R600/G80 will be old hat as there will be new cards out.

Well as for me, I love tech, love it, but get sick of playing the waiting game, just like mum used to say, ARE WE THERE YET..........ALMOST THERE JUST AROUND THE CORNER

I mean come on, how long is this bloody corner. Think of it this way, how long will HL2, BF2 and all over goodies be lasting us, next 2, 3 years. be patient.

But on another note.

OMG how good does Crysis look. some pre jizz there i swear. We will all be fine, they always find a way to make games run ok on current hardware. Foot, shooting, you get the idea

All the Crysis videos released are of the game running in DX9 mode on current gen hardware apparantly sort of emulating DX10 effects through brute force.

A level is playable at E3 and the foliage and stuff really does move. It looks stunning.

Well i got a x1900xt-x so im hoping it will be enough, if not will crossfire, all depending on price perfomance. And oh yes i had heard it was running on DX9. watched that e3 movie figthing the monster tanky thinngy mc boob

Hi guys, don't know if you've found this yet but I read on Bit-tech that "DX10 would not bring much more to the table other than increased performance for cards that support it" so it looks like 2GB RAM + crossfire will run it pretty well.
