Next Gen iPhone Metal Backs Leaked

Ok, put your phone in your pocket, with the jack facing upwards. Now put your hand in your pocket. Pull out your phone without rotating it in your hand. The phone is now upside down. Hence jack on the bottom of the new ones results in phone being the right way up when you pull it out of your pocket.

Time out of pocket with headphones in, seconds.

Time in pocket hours, need longer cable, and I can't see any reason for it.
Remains flipping the phone upside down to go in, then flipping it when you pull it out. Far more rotating than at top.

I'm afraid I don't see your logic.

The cable will be exactly the same length... the new phone would sit upside down in your pocket (hence getting it out to use it will be the right way up).

Current gen phone sits upright in the pocket (jack at top) then to get it out you have to rotate it to be the correct way up, then rotate it again for it to go back in the pocket.

if its upside down, how can you get it out, without flipping it.
either its upside down and requires no rotation, or its upside down and requires far more movement, than when its at the top.

Current phone there is no rotation. Simply pull it out and your ready to go.

You guys are taking this way too far! I put my phone in my pocket correctly orientated (top at the top), and have no problem taking it out and viewing it the right way, merely through a combination of magic and science! :D Okay, I let it slide round in my hand.

And that's why Apple may put it at the bottom so you don't have to slide it round in your hand (phone sitting upside down in your pocket).

If anything having it at the top gets in the way a lot. Like the cable has to loop around, I would think this puts more strain on the cable? Im probably chatting utter ****.

But either way looping it around I find quite annoying, it wouldn't get in the way if it was on the bottom RIGHT of the hone. Bottom left it might get in the way of my right hand little finger.

The only reason the iPhone didn't have the dock on the bottom like the iPod Touches do is because there was no room due to the size of the existing dock. On the bottom offers a more direct path for the cable to go to your ears rather than having to go down the back of the phone and up again. Many portable DAPs, as well as most portable amps that connect to the iPod and iPhone via the LOD and then have their own headphone out have it at the bottom, as well as volume/gain/crosstalk/bass boost controls there.

But for the most part, you'll still have to adjust the phone slightly when you take it out the right way anyway...?

Anyway, I see what you mean, but personally prefer it at the top.

What if the phone jack was on the SIDE?

ps this is a joke

I think I just threw up in my mouth a little...

What if they did away with it all together, and you had special Bluetooth headphones for it instead... Could team up with Dr Dre and release custom beats etc... wouldn't be unlike apple to do that.

I do that all the time and i always have my phone the right side up so i can access it without having to rotate:confused:

I always always put my phone headphone jack up in my pockets, i have deep pockets as it is but usually i put it in my front/back or my coat pocket and have never ever had this issue your talking about.

As i said its a retarded if they put the jack at the bottom but i dont think thats a real design either way.

While I do like the design of the iPhone 4 / iPhone 4S, I do hope the sixth generation iPhone is going to be a new design, preferably a curved design of some description. That would be nice. An iPhone which is essentially the same design as the previous two generations but simply vertically longer would be a little disappointing. It will certainly be interesting to see what Apple comes up with though.
