*** Nexus 10 Tablet ***

Is the 10 still worth buying? My 2012 nexus 7 has served me well but I want a 10 incher for better forum browsing and watching HD content.

Any known issues with it? Dodgey screens etc?

Must.....wait..... :)

I don't really need cutting edge tech, just a solid performer. Games are best left for pc's and consoles IMO.

Hopefully the 10 will drop in price when the new one comes out.

It's an awesome tab. I got one a few months ago off MM. Best slate I have ever used. Only problem with it is that battery could be better. With light use I get 8 hours. Hopefully kitkat might address this.

If they drop in price prior to the Asus 10 then they would be a real bargain. You should pick one up for sure. The tablet feels great in the hand. Samsung really did a superb job making this tablet.

From the andoid twitter feed

Starting today, Nexus 7 (2012 and 2013) and Nexus 10 will be getting a tasty update to Android 4.4, KitKat

Hopefully this will improve the n10 experience. Had random crashes and slow ups before. Gonna do a clean wipe when the image is up on the Google site.

Looking on XDA there only seems to be one person who got the 4.4 update so far, which failed (he was rooted however so that may have caused it). Seems quite slow compared to the N7 rollout.

Reading even more posts it seems highly unlikey that we will get the transparent notification/soft key bar on the N10. That's really disappointing Google...

EDIT: And the update is here for some people. Main things noticed is...

No tablet UI for the settings (really Google?)
No ART
No transparency

Apparently the launcher is pretty pants and buggy as well. Would be nice if Google had the GE launcher on instead, seems a bit silly keeping it on the N5 so far...

... I'm not so sure if I want to upgrade to 4.4...

Yeah it seems rather all disappointing from Google. Would have loved the transparent bars - can't believe Google couldn't put the effort in to make them work.

I may pass up the OTA but will probably end up installing it :o
